80040154 error

Post by jiffyjimbothe3 » Sat Apr 01, 2006 11:47 am

I get an 80040154 error when I open anything in Windows Media player, and I cant edit in Adobe or Even Windows Movie Maker because of it.

I downloaded Gspot, and it said I needed xvid, so I downloaed it and intalled it, but I still get the same error. Ive tried a lot of other things as well and I can't seem to figure it out. Can anyone help me?

Sounds really horrible :(

-First of all Ok have you tired to install new all your progs. that have this error? I don´t think it will help, but you can try it...

-Do you think it is a virus?

-Do you have programms such as Ad-Aware to terminate Ads?
Than... Update one of them and use it!

-Have you tried to use other video formats such as mpeg? Is there the same problem.

-Do you have to problems with Direct X? Try to downlaod and install the newest verison.

-Is it the newest Version of XviD?

Maybe you can solve this problem, if you install your Windows system again.

Have you tried google?

http://www.google.com/search?hs=cxn&hl= ... tnG=Search

I recommend FFDShow over individual codecs or packs

Unfortunatly I have tried every single one of those things except for re-installing windows. I also searched google and tryed every solution I found but nothing worked.

Its also not a virus or anything like that because I just completely cleaned out my system today, just to make sure that wasn't the problem.

I do have the latest version of Divx, but maybe I should re-install it...

Sounds like either divx or a fault in windows media player. You could try re-installing both.

I tried re-installing them but it didn't work, fortunatly I did fix it. I was checking through my Add or Remove programs and I saw that I had a codec pack installed that I didnt know I had... So I instantly deleted it and now everything works! Thanks for the help guys, I can finally start mixing my next AMV!
