Quick question bout Project Settings

Post by Ninjafox » Sat Mar 25, 2006 5:59 am

Hello~

I'm reading the "Setting up Your Premiere 5.x/6.x Project" and for the video section, the "Compressor", he says that you should choose a fast codec for previewing a certain clip on the timeline, "PICVideo MJPEG codec. However my problem is, ive got Adobe Premiere 6.5 and for the drop down menu for "Compressor" in 6.5 this is the list of options i have:

CineForm HD Codec V1.2
Cinepak Codec by Radius
DivX 5.2 1 Codec
Huffyuv v2.1.1 - CCESP Patch v0.2.5
Indeo video 5.10
Intel Indeo(R) Video R3.2
Intel Indeo video 4.5
Intel IYUV codec
Lagarith lossless codec
Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codec V1
Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codec V2
Microsoft RLE
Microsoft Video 1
Microsoft Windows Media Video 9
Panasonic DV CODEC
None

So im just lost on what codec i should pick for previewing the clips on the timeline, cause they dont have PICVideo MJPEG codec in Premiere 6.5 .

There's you can use the unregistered version. All it adds are watermarks on the preview monitor, but since you dont export usin that codec, the result wont be affected.

i downloaded the codec and when i installed it i got the following options:

PICVideo M-JPEG 3 VfW Codec
PICVideo Lossless JPEG Codec
PICVideo Wavelet 2000 Codec

Do i choose PICVideo M-JPEG 3 VfW Codec?

use the PICVideo Lossless JPEG Codec

all of them should work but i think that lossless one works best.

No, use the first one. The whole point of using it as a preview codec is because its fast. The lossless one is definately not fast.
