.mov or .mp4

Post by alonzo » Thu Jan 11, 2007 5:24 pm

I just finished editing my AMV with Avid Free DV on my iMac G5. I'll be compressing the video with H.264, but I have only two good choices for containers: .mov and .mp4.

Which container is more compatible/better for everyone? Is there a more ideal container?

If you want more downloads, .mp4. There's no logical reason (that I can think of) to put an AMV in a .mov container.

Well, if you choose to use Sorenson 3 and QDesign audio, maybe - in that case .mov is expected, although it is perfectly possible to put such streams in MKV and decode them with ffdshow (it's also possible to decode them with ffdshow even inside of MOV since Haali's Media Splitter works with .mov files also).
