Changing the volume of an mp3?

Post by OzzieArcane » Thu Oct 13, 2005 8:11 pm

I'm not particularly using this for making an AMV but I may in the future and considering how many video and audio programs I know most of you must use to make AMVs. Does anyone know if there is a program that can increase the volume of an mp3 and save it?

I recently downloaded some mp3s that as far as I know have never been put on a official CD before but the volume on them is way too low and if I were to say burn them on a CD with other tracks I'd have to constantly be adjusting the volume, because that is exactly how insanely low they are. If I turned the sound up for them, then when it gets to song with a more regular volume it would be way too loud.

This would also be good to know cause if I ever did want to use any of them for a AMV, then the AMV would be at a more reasonable volume.

Just about any program out there allows for volume changes, even free ones i.e. Audacity. Import the track you want to use then move the bar that is in the middle of the visible track generated after you import the mp3 up to increase the volume and down to decrease it.

If you'll be burning them to Audio CD's, then some burning programs have a Normalize feature that will automatically adjust the volume to reasonable levels. (I know that JetAudio does.) This is another method you could use in Audacity as well, instead of burning them. It's under the effects menu.
