DBZ DVD Ripping....
Ive been ripping the DBZ movie 5. Every time I convert it form .vob, to any other format and import it into Windows Movie Maker (WMM) the clips seem to go for a few seconds, but, then will repeat... It will show the same footage, only on different frames...Does anyone know about this and can you help me?

How are you converting it from the .vob file? What program and the like are you using?

Are you following the procedure outlined in <a href="/guides/avtech/videogetb1.html">AD&E's A/V guide</a> and <a href="http://www.aquilinestudios.org/wmm2guide.html">my footage prep for WMM2 guide</a>?

Re: DBZ DVD Ripping....
Which movie is the 5th one? And does this only happen at the beginning of the 'chapters' of the movie?Yon Phei wrote:Ive been ripping the DBZ movie 5. I've found this on at least two dbz movie dvds, the one for Super Android 13, and...the first Brolly movie, I think. It's where they have the beginning in both english and japanese, so you'll see 30 some frames, and then the exact same frames again before it goes to the next mini-section. It usually stops by the time you get to the middle of the 'chapter'.
If that's what you're getting, there's no way to 'fix' it. It's not an error. If you're ripping huffyuv clips in VirtualDub, you can cut out the 'repeats' by selecting the sections and going to 'edit' and 'delete section'.

Well.
The 5th movie is the Broly movie, and i convert the .vob files with DVD2AVI, and they convert into .avi files, and yes the frames repeat. There is no way to stop that? Well...then I will have to finish the vid....and it will take me at least twice as long...oh well...thanks everyone!

Is that an alternate angle? Because I know it's possible, at least in SmartRipper, to rip only one angle of a program chain...Arigatomyna wrote:I've found this on at least two dbz movie dvds, the one for Super Android 13, and...the first Brolly movie, I think. I'm not sure what an alternate angle is. I use dvddecryptor usually, just straight vob ripping. Same results with ISObuster, but that's just another program to rip the vob as-is. If there's a way to get 'angles,' or sections of a vob with Smartripper, please explain. ^__^Scintilla wrote:Is that an alternate angle? It's only happened with those two (both dbz, same company) dvds out of a few hundred I've used, so it's not a common problem.

Well, when you open up SmartRipper and select the Movie rip method, the leftmost window lists all the titles on the discs; select a title to expand it and show all the program chains in that title; select a program chain to expand it and show all the angles in that chain; then the Chapters and Cells windows come alive and you can choose the chapters you want.
The version I have, at least, won't let me start ripping in Movie mode until I've selected an angle; what that seems to say is that it will only rip one angle at a time, thus avoiding problems like the one described. If I'd just ripped the VOBs straight in File mode, my Kare Kano rips would in all probability have some odd-looking opening and ending sequences and eyecatches (TRSI uses alternate angles for those and for the next episode previews; which angle is shown is determined by what audio language you selected).
The multiple-angle problem is described on this page:
