hmm

Post by valorzero » Sun Dec 07, 2003 5:09 am

I fixed my browser so it didn't try to open there and I got to open and play in Winamp 5, BUT...everyone is blue  all the characters have blue smurf skin and whatshername has brown hair instead of blue. I don't think that's intentional?

I use wmm 2.0 and I compress to mpg or xvid (sometimes divx but not lately). :? It *is* possible to convert without killing quality...
Do you know any way of taking a WMV file and making its fades to black actually look good? If so, please share...

You mean a wmv file where the vid was made in wmm? I've done a few in Showbiz and saved to wmv and they came out fine (the vids sucked, but the fade was fine). So I'll take it you mean wmm. I do have a little trick that works, just do a real fade with a black screen. ^_^;; The problem isn't really the filetype (wmv) so much as the effect as it's done in wmm 2.0 - a real fade has more steps to it (shifting down into the full black) than the bottled 'fade out to black' effect does. The same with 'fade to white' - The effects are good if you're doing a very short fade, or a very long one (though those still only work if you're overlapping the final screen - it doesn't get all the way to complete black with wmm, or complete white on the final frame). For medium fades, actually using a black screen (screencap or a black section from the anime) will get you a gradual transition to full black that looks a lot better than the effect itself (combined with the effect, it can look great - choose 'fade out to black' and then have a small black frame overlaying the last bit of the clip so it does a complete transition instead of copping out at the end).

But again, the problem with fades in wmm 2.0 aren't so much the file type as it is the fade (the 'fade to' effect) itself. At least, that's my experience.
