Absolution - .hack//G.U. (Aeri)

Post by Aeri » Sun Nov 04, 2007 8:59 pm

This video was something of a breakthrough for me. I've been in a bit of a slump these past few months, barely even touching any editing, and I was starting to worry that I was loosing my love for it. But then my friend and I finally finished the .hack//G.U. games, and that was it. I HAD to make a video to it, you see. It's worthy of so much more attention then it's gotten; consider this my contribution to the awareness effort, as it were.

Anyway, check it out and let me know what you think!

Oooh, as much as I want to say 'watch it anyway!', it definitely has footage from all three games, so I wouldn't chance it, yet. The games are too good to spoil, I think. :D

Aah, I know...I always end up having trouble with that. Any good advice for this little old Mac user? (I'm glaring at the AMVapp software which taunts me with it mostly PC-only components  )

Nope! But it's somewhere between 01:30 and 02:30.

PS: I always forget about IM...but okay! I'll get back on! ^_____^

Damn, something new from Aeri?

/sets high expectations and downloads

EDIT: I was impressed by that. Game footage usually tends to turn me off but your editing totally balanced that out more than enough.

I knew this song and to be honest with you, I think it hasn't any other value than produce melatonin for you. I like Coldplay's style but this song is somewhat boring to me and I wasn't really expecting to like this video that much. It turned out way better than I was expecting. The mood was perfect as you used clips just right within the limits the song sets. The story was somewhat confusing but sometimes the mood sync is enough to fix that problem and that was the case here. I really liked the ending when the song got faster and the internal sync, shakiness and faster cuts kicked in. Orgasmic

It's deffinitely a keeper and I'll be watching it more from now on. It deffinitely looked like it had a solid story and I really want to get into that =P Right now you'll get a 4.5/5 from me although it might be higher if I had liked the song and the footage.

Awesome job!

Fix You, eh? This might be really amazing. Why are all the editors I know using songs I already love? Its like you guys are custom tailoring your AMVs to suit my tastes.... or I know a lot of music.

/gets

EDIT: Well, I'm not sure if it's the multitude of characters being introduced to a non-fan of the game or whether it was some other less obvious fault of yours, but I wasn't really drawn into the AMV. It might be epic for someone who knows the series but the opinion of someone who doesn't (lets use myself as the example) it might be a little more like "WTF is going on? Who is that? Woah, that looks pretty serious, is he okay? Who is THAT? What's happening? Oh well, I'll just pretend to not care and be 'bored' to cover up the fact that I don't get it." There was just too much stuff happening, and none of it was straightforward enough for someone who doesn't know who's who to understand any of it. Sorry. =(

On a more positive note, you nailed the mood and the sync was pretty tight. Everything felt right, so I blame my unfamiliarity with the game. It got pretty hectic after the song climaxed too, with even more people being introduced (or maybe the same people with glowing lines all over them?) I can see how it'd be easy to give up on trying to make sense out of it.

...but seriously, was there a story you were trying to tell? If so, it's over my head.

3/5 seems like a pretty average score with people padding the stats these days. Its appropriate though; you nailed the basics, but it lacked that something extra to wrestle my ADD to the ground and pin it there for all 4 minutes and 15 seconds.

I don't have ADD...

too late!! XD, watched it already, glad I'm about to finish Vol 2 or this could have spoiled me a lot in some parts.

Anyway to the GMV: I agree with Emong on the song, kinda not the best I have heard from Coldplay, but you made it work with .hack//G.U. :) , I enjoyed this GMV a lot cause it actually told part of the main story of the game and it was understable (more for me than the rest that haven't played the game for sure). Really liked the editing overall and how it picked up later :D. Nice quality, too bad the borders of the characters get anoying in full screen :( (nothing you can do about it though, since thats how it looks when you rip it), anyway nice job overall
