King of Spayn 2006: the official thread

Post by Mr Pilkington » Wed Nov 23, 2005 12:15 am

That's right ladies and spayngorians it's that time again! In 38 days CBR will hold the Annual "King of Spayn" AMV contest! As many of you know for the past couple of years Add and myself have taken the first week of the calendar year to edit the best most effet-up bad video humanly possible. This year we have decided mutually to open this contest to the [.org] public. However there are a number of rules both new and traditional that everyone must abide by without exception!

Rules:
1.) Editor(s) get from midnight 1/1/06 to 11:59pm 1/7/06 in which to edit.
2.) Editor(s) must use an audio source of non-American origin; preferably a techno beat.

In the past these have been the sources of choice:
'04: Champion: Song- [ Italian ] Not sure the source but its some crazy Italian Techno
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=30177
'04: Runner Up: Song- [ Canadian ] Moxy Fruvous - King of Spain (hence the name of the contest)
(Not available due to harddrive crash)
'05: Champion: Song- [ Romanian ] O-Zone - Dragostea Din Tei
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=58884
'05: Runner Up: Song- [ Spanish ] Again not sure but its some crazyass Spanish Reggae
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=58851

3.) Editor(s) must use more than 80% footage stolen from other videos. The more recent the better! Using videos from the previous year yeilds the highest fan vote
4.) Editor(s) must edit only their own video, however it has been noted in the past that sneaking footage from you opponent(s) does add to the humor of the event.
5.) BYOC!! I have a limited number of machines to edit upon so please provide your own. Footage will be available upon request, but there may be a short waiting list. Anyone with external HDDs is encouraged to share the wealth.
6.) Editor(s) must make a humorous video
7.) Editor(s) are not to take the contest seriously at all. This contest is for fun and does not yield a monetary prize; the award for winning is the coveted King of Spayn Crown, to be designed by the winner (or myself and Add depending upon location.)

NEW THIS YEAR:
8.) Editor(s) must attend the New Years celebration at Underground Atlanta with studio Chaotic Bad Raptor; THERE WILL BE NO ACCEPTATIONS! Upon leaving the public gathering and braving mass-transit, we return to Casa de Raptor for a night of boozin' and editing like mad. There will be refreshments, a full wet-bar (as supplies may last,) and bed for those weak whom need sleep. Valet parking is available upon request, and tips are appreciated. Best of all we are wired for 10/100 in every room of the house, and the Raptor Rig is wired for gigabit so file sharing is a definite!
9.) RSVP ASAP!! The Mrs. and I are proud to host in our new abode. The number of rooms has tripled, and square-footage has more than quintupled so rooms should be more than adequate, but the good rooms will go fast!

If you are a CBR member or prospect you better have a damn good reason for not showing *shakes fist*

This "contest" (if you can call it that)--should prove to be interesting....however it frightens me and my small children. If it'll influence any sane people to come I shall be baking lots of cake! ^-^ (and I bake awesome cakes....or so I've been told...><;;)

No japaneese or chineese sounding songs either, No German, must sound like its spanish or something close... if your unsure about your song choice, ask us at CBR day.. we'll listen to it and then let you know...
