Worst ending EVER! - super spoilers involved.

Post by madbunny » Sat Sep 25, 2004 7:02 pm

Ok, what do you think is the worst ending EVER to an anime?

I have a couple of contenders but I'll start with:
end episode spoiler wrote: Berserk.

The whole show ends, and we learn nothing about what happens afterword. NOOOOoo instead we get to see the main girl getting raped by hell demons, and the hero screaming in agony. Then for en epiloge, some old guy saying "don't get killed now".

Gaargh!
I don't *need* a happy ending all the time (though I prefer them), but at least some resolution. Is there at least a manga that explains that happens afterword here?

Ok, anyone else have an ending that's actually worse than this one? I'll consider myself warned.

you have to see the manga. i think thay ran out of money to finish the show... if you make a modest $250,000.09 donation* to the makers of the show im sure thay will make a better ending for you!

*the needed donation may be more then the posted amount

The problem was more content....the part of the Berserk manga that could be broadcast on TV without violating decency laws has already all been broadcast. The producers did take a huge financial hit on the series, but given its rampant popularity across the world, this is probably made up by now.

These issues of course have already been discussed in each of the approximately 37,000 "why did Berserk end the way it did" threads in this forum.

My personal approach is to start over with episode 1 when you finish 25, and on future rewatches start with 2 and go 2-25, then 1. There are worse things to do with your spare time than watch Berserk in an infinite loop.

As far as just endings go, the end of the first Megazone 23 movie is pretty rotten. Of course, the whole movie sucks, so it's kind of expected, but there was no need for it to be that bad....

noir. typical rambo/americana ction movie style ending

rahxephon. its like watching a crap rip-off of end of eva. no wait................ it is.

now and then, here and ther. not nessasarily a bad ending, but it just didnt have that impact that was caried through most of the series.

Hmmm...I'm inclined to put my vote here on Macross II: Lovers Again...

The series was pretty good for the first 5 episodes...then this last one...what the Hell?

(Think the ending of Do You Remember Love? only without the high-quality dogfight, an 'eeeh' choice song and an added cop-out factor)

As has been mentioned many times before, Kare Kano also suffers from the "manga didn't finish yet" syndrome. Pity, because the rest of the manga has been quite entertaining so far.

I banked WAY too much hope for Konomini, but all I got was a terribly rushed and anticlimatic ending. :?

darkside blues..... wow there's an anime thats gives anime a bad name. I'd have to add vampire wars because i saw those 2 almost back to back.

Berserk ending wasn't an ending to story so it doesn't count. but what about UTENA? when i first saw the credits rolling on episode 39 my first thought was "NO!!!."

After a while i accepted the ending but was pissed off to later read that they producers just arbitarily decided one character would disappear because it was less expected that why instead of the other one disappearing.

Same thing with devil lady. i really enjoyed the series but the ending took a confusing turn, IMO, that left me with a "Huh?"

Darkside Blues has some great animation though.I don't think its a horrible anime it gust needed to be alot alot longer to actually explain wtf was up.Like that little kid I don't get whats with him.
