Post by inuyashaguru » Sun Apr 25, 2004 10:38 am

I saw Goldfinger last nite, not to mention for 5 bucks only :!:, and let me tell you they were bloody awesome holy lord they rocked my face off. i was in the front row and like the little school girl i am  i touched him yea it was awesome and when they came out in the beginning the drummer came out in a leopard print thong it was hiliarious. but what else could you expect from Goldfinger it's fucking GOLDFINGER :D !! ...sorry i'm a big fan obvisouly  but it was great.

other good shows i've seen are nfg/good charolette where i almost touched jordan the lead singer of nfg ..swoon and i saw weezer with am radio and pete yorn which was absolutly stellar.

Let me just say that this is the precise reason why I had to stop going to NFG shows, as much as I fuckin' love them to death, still.

Regardless...

Yeah, Goldfinger always puts on an amazing show. They're one of those bands that realizes that we still love the old stuff, and they do a fantastic job of setting up a set list that includes an awesome variety of songs from every album. Plus, they've just got tons of E-N-E-R-G-Y.

My favorite show of all time is a toss up between a Bigwig show at Knights of Columbus building in some small town in Jersey, and/or a Reggie & the Full Effect show at a now-demolished small club in NYC.

The Bigwig show was fantastic 'cuz it was the first show I went to with my freshman-year roommate, whom I got into the band (he's more of a traditional street-punk kinda ol' fan, but he really got into Bigwig). Also met up with a bunch of old friends there, and it was nice to see them again. It's also one of the only (THE only?) show I've got to without Meri, since meeting her... not that it makes it GOOD, just different ^^;;. I got to.. eh... let loose a little more :P

The Reggie show (which was shortly after the release of "Promotional Copy") was just a fun, small, intimate show. James is the fuckin' man. There's nothing quite like a Reggie show with a small group of extremely dedicated fans.

And such ends my answer... !

The Dismemberment Plan, their last tour, easily. Every member of the band was on fire. The vocals were amazingly loud, clear, clean, and fun. The drummer was insane. More than half the set, which was something like 23-24 songs and the pre-encore medley, was composed of requests from people in the crowds. Oh yeah, it was small-venue, about the size of five or six garages and half of that was the bar and pool tables. Incredible time. They closed with "Girl O'Clock".

Pearl Jam, Riot Act tour, and Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, fall '02 tour, are 2nd and 3rd in my book.

King Crimson - March 12, 2003, Toronto, ON.

It was a pretty mid-to-disappointing show in King Crimson terms (from my study of live recordings), since the energy of the band (or at the least, it's primary texturizer) was inhibited by blatant flash photographers and recorders.

But a mid-to-disappointing King Crimson concert, for me, is quite likely better than any other show on earth. The musicianship was excellent, and there were at least several moments where the connection was made, making it all worthwhile. EleKtriK floored me due to its' flawless technical execution; Dangerous Curves was triumph of the drummer; the sound was stunning. The gathering soundscape just before the final section on TPTB II was my connection to Fripp, who sadly remained shut out for most of the rest of the evening. Whenever I hear it on the album now, I'm taken back to that moment vivid moment, ultimately underlying the balance of disappointment and hope in the whole experience. In the encores, the guitarist in question opened up once more, and the solo on Dinosaur is best described as disturbingly angry, probably reflecting what he felt about the whole affair. And, of course, the silence in the Deception of the Thrush was the most captivating theatrical moment - the 5 seconds that seemed like 40 minutes due to the utter tension of the moment.

I may only wonder what a 'great' KC show sounds like. Guess I'll find out come this fall
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Hmm I haven't been to concerts and whatnot in a while.

I suppose the last one I went to, that I really enjoyed would have been the 'Sars Benefit Concert' in Toronto. I was on the Skydome side and in my opinion the better side

The only thing that annoyed me there was the jackass smoking pot 3 rows up...gawd, I hate the smell of pot. And the fact that the Tragically Hip were late in arriving *shakes fist*....I had to put up with Jann Arden/Sarah M for another half an hour...not that they're bad, but I can only take so much of both singers.

On an unrelated note, I won't be able to make it to the Nightwish Concert

so you don't go/not like to go cuz of ppl crowding to the front to touch or the silly crying girls? cuz yea i like jordan he's cool so is the show and all the energy they have, but mind you there would have been no way at all that i could have gotten up there if it wasn't for my bf, i can't fight my up there against those huge guys who seem to think you can mosh to everything  and it was cool being up there but after three songs and fighting to breath and stay standing i said f that and got the gaurd to pull me out from three rows back i was impressed. lol

and goldfinger does have a lot of energy i like the smaller venues much generally less ppl to fight with and you can usually have a good view no matter where you stand. i'm not all about getting to the very front although it is fun, i jsut want to be able to see and be able to rock out without fearing for my life :(

oh another good show i saw was dashboard i loved how he had us sing along with him with lots of his stuff the way he included the crowd was cool
and i agree with you moonlight solider there were asses the were smoking pot at the dashboard concert who were standing in front of me and it eventually made me feel quite sick not to mention the rest of the cigarette smoke in there, that stuff gets to me fast...no offense if you smoke

My favorite show was AC/DC with Slash's Snakepit opening. It kicked major booty!
