"RK- Original Sin" is, if you will, the "Martin Guerre" of all our projects- meaning it has been writ, re-writ, done, re-done, and done again. It originally started coming together long before there was ever a "we" to this little AMV-making venture of ours- dreamed up in a Philosophy class one day by myself ( KCM ) more than a year ago. It was originally my first video- done before "Two Way Dream", which currently is "hallmarked" as being our first video when in fact, "Original Sin" was.
How "Original Sin" came to drop behind several other video projects is a number of things- every time it was completed, I came up with different ideas that I wanted to use instead, for one. And then I got access to a computer with better speeds and space, so I upped the quality of the footage by re-capturing it all from DVD all over again and exporting with higher filters- and then changing
my mind with how the video was going to go. The creation of this video was a test- not only under-going several re-writes by me, but also enduring a number of computer crashes and data loss- one which caused me to have to do the whole video all over again from scratch, and another which made the files inaccessible for more than a month.
So now it has been more than a year- and a project that I started in my head one day came to include 2 other members of our group; interjecting with their own ( appreciated ) ideas. It helps that they both are just as in love with "RK Tsuikuhen OVA" as I am. The video is far from perfect but it's time for me to let go of it and move on to other projects. In the long run- it has been a good lesson in the trials of editing and creating AMVs, and is simply a stepping stone high enough to allow me to reach the next lesson to be learned.

Every time we get yet another enthusiastic review of this video, I keep thinking of how many things I know about the AMV-creation process now that I wish I knew back then, when this video was originally released. This video has been well received by the fans and has remained on The Top 10% List for almost 2 years now. And every time we get enthusiastic words either emailed to us or left in opinions for us, I keep thinking of how much better this video could be, with a few tweaks here and there to clean up some messy cuts and transitions, a better, higher quality export of the actual DVD footage using XVID this round, and a fix in the audio where it 'burps' at one point in the AMV. I just wish we were brave enough to tackle a complete Re-Make of this video, as the original Premiere Timeline and files have long been lost since the big 'Partition Collapse of 2003'. It's a debate that I feel will bother me for a long time. Maybe some videos shouldn't be "redone" at all, and instead be left as they are, as a testament to the progress one has made in this whole AMV creative process.
