  • Comments: This is the fourth and final part of The Utena Symphony, a project seven months in the planning and six weeks in the making. The Utena Symphony is a four-part dedication to a series that means a great, great deal to me.

    The End: The origin of this part of the Symphony is pretty simple: I remembered an opinion from my "Duelists' Dance" AMV, saying that the final duel was the only one I didn't cover. While it made sense for that vid, it also made me realize that I really wanted to do something with the Duel Called Revolution. I'm not sure how using this song came to me, but I'm glad it did; it has the right amount of building drama for the climactic events. I know that it's different in tone and music from the rest of the Symphony, but I think it works very well, bringing everything together from the first three parts and leading them into the conclusion.

    I Also Like Reused Footage: When I started planning this vid - back in February, I think - I knew I'd have to use some of the same footage from the earlier vids. While this bothers me a little, I think it's necessary. Any finale would draw on what came before, further showing why it's important and how it led to the end, so I don't think it detracts from the project as a whole. If nothing else, I think it gives those parts more meaning, as more of what's behind them has been revealed.

    Pseudo-Latin: "Novae", of course, generally means "new," but can also mean "the new thing" or something similar. It's what I got when I put "Revolution" into the online Latin translator, and it worked well with "Finale," so I went with it. I think it makes an interesting double meaning. This is the final revolution, and at the same time, it's something new... Something that, judging by Akio's reaction in the series and (somewhat) in this vid, has never happened before.

    Waxing Symphonic: As the final part of a four-part symphony, this video is the resolution of the conflict between the two major themes, love and corruption. The first introduced the first major theme, that of corruption, and the second video introduced the second major theme, that of love. The third was the conflict that occurred when the two major themes, those of love and corruption, mixed.

    And finally, I do ramble. Spoilers abound in this video and in the entire Symphony; I highly recommend that you see all of Utena before you watch any part of this. Having said that, I hope you enjoy. Comments and opinions are always welcome. My great and humble thanks to those who have watched the entire Symphony; while this is something I did mostly for myself, it's a great feeling to know that others are enjoying it as well.

    Thank you. ::bows humbly::
