AMV Remakes?

Post by kenisama » Tue Oct 04, 2011 6:37 pm

Been looking through my old AMVs, specifically this one:

And thinking to myself, "I can do waaaaaaay better." I mean, it was my first video back in 2001. It's now 10 years later... I still love the song and now that there's newer source material with 1.11 and 2.22. I guess what I'm asking is, should I even bother with a remake? I've seen others do it in the past, just not sure if it be worth my time :uhoh:

So what does everyone else think about remakes in general? Plus, does anyone have any examples of remakes good or bad? Curious to see other's opinion on this, thanks!

I didn't notice this topic :)

I've worked in several remakes, but I didn't have enough luck keeping a decent quality. Although I'm thinking of remaking a remastered Version I currently got
Yeah I've thought the same before starting in a remake, I can do it better, but normally I think that remakes should be made when you want to celebrate something cause it's in those moments when they get a special meaning. In your case 10 years as an editor, at my case, the anniversary of the premiere of HOTD

I'm still thinking that this should be 720p

If you seriously think that you can improve on something that you did a long time ago, then go for it. I actually just finished a remake of one of my older videos that I made almost 3 years ago.

I'll see about finding sometime to start AND finish this before it's 11th year anniversary lol

I remade my first AMV (Hell Girl/Chick Habit) because I made the original with TMGPEnc and could get the timing better with Vegas. And I added a little to it.

I wound up remaking one my early videos after having remastered it and thinking "I think I could do a much better job on this..."

Original (remastered):

Anyhow, if you think you could do something new/better with a remake; I'd say go for it.

Oops - just to be accurate that was Hell Girl/Just Like A Pill.
