Deadman Wonderland

AniDB wrote:A massive earthquake ravaged Japan's mainland and destroyed most of Tokyo, sinking three-quarters of it into the ocean. Ten years later, the story starts with Igarashi Ganta, a seemingly ordinary, unassuming middle school student attending Nagano Prefecture's middle school. An escapee, a survivor of the great earthquake, Ganta has no memories of the tragedy and has lived a simple, normal life. This all changes one day when a strange man covered in blood and crimson armour appears, floating, out of his classroom windows. Smirking madly, this Red Man massacres Ganta's entire class and, instead of killing him, embeds a red crystal shard in his chest. Within days of the massacre, Ganta is declared the sole suspect and, following a suspiciously quick trial, is sentenced to life imprisonment in Deadman Wonderland, a massive theme-park-like prison.

Episode 1 was pretty accurate to the first few chapters of the manga. It was kind of irksome to already see stuff changed around to be honest, though. e-e
Like, Shiro's first encounter with Ganta went from 100% creepy, to... really not at all. :\

However they animated the massacre scene wonderfully, holy jeez. <3

Its surprising how much one twist of a scene can influence the enjoying of an episode.
Yoh replacing Azami as the victim of the big burly prison mate (who broke Azami'sYoh's arm) and then Ganta telling big burly prison mate off during the actual race? Wtf Manglobe, this disatisfies me. D':

On the other hand,
the opening sequence was extremely gorgeous and awesome, holy geez. <3

DW's probably going to get a second season or something; they just can't cover everything in 12 episodes.

Ep 3 .. we find Section G however;
Spoiler :
the Guards discover that somethings are not controlled by her lordship!

It can't really be THAT dangerous; the girls white suit can control it!
the powers he is dreaming about, are they real or imagined?

I'm mighty disappointed in this one. Deadman Wonderland tries so hard to be cool and hardcore and all that crap that it ultimately fails miserably. The story is simply ridiculous...

just saw ep 5. OMFG. Shiro is AWESOME! If it wasn't for that fact that she only wears a body suit, I'd make her my desktop background.

Finally got caught up! Its gotten better, but I'm still iffy on the speed they're taking in comparison to the manga. I mean seriously, they've already gotten to Scar Chain? o-o Too fast, IMO.

But the music is great, the animation is great, and I think they've done well with this adaptation thus far. I'm interested to know where they're going to end it, too. Hopefully with the intro to Azami (which they should've done 6 episodes ago, but y'know).

   OMG the ending got me!

Spoiler :
First Episode, the Red man sings the woodpecker song. During the whole series, Ganta does not even QUESTION how the Red Man even knew that song until LITERALLY the last scene when Shiro starts singing it. THEN he finally asks himself at the very last scene of the show: "How did he know that song??"

Wow, That was just hilarious. xD

FYI, It kinda had a rushed feeling to it and I didn't truly get to understand all the characters, so I always get the feeling that they pulled a Chaos;Head on this one. But I would really love to see a continuation on this series :P
