If this does happen, it wouldn't be a bad idea for already established users to make a thread and to keep the old threads searchable. So a noob who is wondering just who that person they see posting all over the forums is can look up their thread.

I'm not opposed to this. It might even work out as a substitute for the Relationship Forum.

I support this idea. I know what it feels like to enter the org as a complete stranger and try to build yourself up little by little. I think an introduction thread would be helpful, just for helping newbies feel more at peace when trying to join.

The topic of thread will pretty much be about the person that started it. If the person says they like cupcakes, then some people may actually talk about cupcakes in that intro thread. That's why there should be a limit of some sort on the thread. I'm thinking of a one week limit before the thread is locked to minimize spam and such. I'm assuming that everyone that comes to this site likes anime, music, and AMVs and would like to talk about those or themselves as creators or viewers. It wouldnt hurt to try it out and see how it goes.

This intro section can also have a sticky which FallChild and I can write up that welcomes members and features quicklinks to important topics or FAQs for new members.

That all sounds really brilliant. A week is plenty of time to get intros in, and we can spare ourselves the inevitable "HOW DO I UPLOAD TO THE ORG" questions that pop up everywhere. :D

if that were allowed, I think all those threads would need to be locked after the first post, in order to cut down on spam. These members are already established and such so there isnt much of a point for them to have intros. Honestly, cant they just look at the person's profile page if they're curious. I mean by having established members make intro threads, it's like having a glossary of members or something

I really don't care much for this idea for the following reasons:

1) Don't fix what isn't broken. To my knowledge, in the few years I've been here, the lack of an introductions board hasn't caused any major problems. It also forced users to get their names out there the good ol' fashioned way: by making good AMVs.
2) For new users it might be great to get some pointers, but people already do that in General AMV and the various Tech Help branches.
3) We already get enough people who don't read the rules posting "Hey guise I maek AMVs heers my utube channel k? ^_^~~~~~". Do you really want to make a forum section that pretty much begs for shit posts like that?

Edit: Sure is Groupthink in here...

Pretty much what I was thinking...*I made a deal with someone* :uhoh: but other than that....I'll just keep doing my thing...wouldn't affect me if you made it or didn't make it (no skin of my nose)....
