Re: Little things you hate?
The fact that my work PC is so bloated with shitty software that it takes more than 10 min to start up and idles with over a GB of memory usage without me actually running anything on it. I'd hate to actually have to do anything other than read email on this thing.

Is overclocking it out of the question?BasharOfTheAges wrote:The fact that my work PC is so bloated with shitty software that it takes more than 10 min to start up and idles with over a GB of memory usage without me actually running anything on it. A laptop that's sole use to me is to read emails? Are you high? It's network and disk lag. Single threaded start-up scans. The "solution" is to reboot only when necessary. Once a month or less.HaarTheDragonlord wrote:Is overclocking it out of the question?BasharOfTheAges wrote:The fact that my work PC is so bloated with shitty software that it takes more than 10 min to start up and idles with over a GB of memory usage without me actually running anything on it. Well, I did respond to that as soon as I woke up, so I guess you could say I was sort of disoriented
I simply misinterpreted your post. No need to start throwing around accusations.BasharOfTheAges wrote: A laptop that's sole use to me is to read emails? It's network and disk lag. Single threaded start-up scans. The "solution" is to reboot only when necessary. Once a month or less.

Re: Little things you hate?
Well, to be fair, overclocking isn't supposed to be used to fix an issue. The only real reason anyone should overclock is to get more performance out of a perfectly working computer, not fix an obviously not working correctly one.

I was always under the impression that overclocking could be used to speed up most computers, so thank you for explaining that for me.Pwolf wrote:Well, to be fair, overclocking isn't supposed to be used to fix an issue. Hmmm...Pwolf wrote:overclock the hard drive
I do have an old 8gb drive laying around....wonder what the chances are that I could change out some resistors in front of the controller chip on the board?

Gotta worry about rotation speed, seek speed, and the fact that the arm was designed to not scratch the surface only at the speeds it was designed to operate at.ZephyrStar wrote:Hmmm...Pwolf wrote:overclock the hard drive
