The AnimeUSA 2010 Thread (Results all up in here)

Postby VicBond007 » Mon Sep 20, 2010 3:29 pm

Hi kids. The rules are up for AnimeUSA 2010. They are available here:
http://www.animeusa.org/anime-usa-2010- ... mv-contest

The layout is kind of herpderp but I can't do much about it.

Ask questions here, receive answers.

CONTEST FINALISTS
Here is the list of studios that made the final cut. If there is an (x2) next to a studio, that means that both of their entries made finals. Otherwise, assume that only one made the cut. If you sent in two and only one made finals, well, you'll find out next week which video it was :)

drewaconclusion (x2)
AmoChan Productions (x2)
Scoob (x2)
moonbunnychan (x2)
Doomimus
Ayu-Shima
AuN Studios (AimoAio)
Megadeadhed
Otaku Lounge Productions (x2)
sloken18
Bebop0083 (x2)
Visualized Nightmare Studios
SSGWNBTD
CornDog VidVids (Ileia)
Kyssifur
Brakus Media (x2)
pink haze
Under The Box Productions
Bloody Wheel Productions (x2)
Vlad G Pohnert
Moonlight Firefly Productions
Kazemon15
Aquiline Studios (Scintilla)
Kosmit (Don't worry kids, this one's safe!)
HalOfBorg
Miracle Falcon
Aquiline Studios (Cyanna)

Also, due to the low number of submissions, we did the same thing as last year and condensed the categories. Upbeat and Comedy were merged into Upbeat/Fun, and the trailers were moved to other appropriate categories for their subject matter. Hopefully we'll keep the drama to a minimum. Trust me, it is better this way than having 2 upbeat, 2 comedy, 2 trailer, and over 9000 drama.

SCREENING TIMES
Friday 9:00PM - 11:00PM in the VAT (Seating is limited to around 175 or so, so come early!)
Saturday 9:30AM - 11:30AM in MAIN EVENTS
Sunday 10:00AM - 1:00PM in the VAT (This is an encore screening of both the contest AND the overflow. After the contest is done, we will show the same overflow that screened on Friday.)
Wait, did someone say Friday overflow?
Friday 5:30PM - 7:00PM in the VAT (AMV OVERFLOW, NOT THE CONTEST)

I'll post the VAT schedule later if anybody gives a frell about it:3

WINNERS
Here are the winners for this year's contest, as voted by viewers like you! If you placed first or second, and didn't pick up your prize at the con on Saturday evening, we'll be mailing them out to you soon. International winners: I will need to see what kind of money AUSA can throw at me before I mail your stuff out. Not to cheat you out of a prize, but a $30 shipping fee on a $25 DVD set that shouldn't even work in your country, is a big pill for me to swallow ._. 3rd place winners: I think that there's enough in the prize bucket to get ya'll a little something something too.

So we have two submissions? Sweetness!

I have to ask, are American-made anime like Avatar and Afro Samurai acceptable like they were in Otakon, or is it different here?

... my trailer video violates so many rules xD

The rule about the MPAA is understandable, but yet quite uncommon ^^'

"American" anime is fine here too. In the end, they're all animated in China/Korea nowadays anyways.

Thank you for being courteous in your response. It may seem obvious to some, but many different cons have many different rules regarding this, and it is hard to discern sometimes.

Now I just have to finish that Bebop experimental vid and revamp my Avatar one...

Right, I had the same problem you have now 'bout three weeks ago, so let's see: :book:

I came to realise that us people living over the hills (and seas) and far away need to make online submissions via something called FTP ("File Transfer Protocol" says Wikipedia). Now, when those three letters made me go "eh...?", my technical saviour told me to download "Filezilla" and gave me this link: http://www.w3hub.org/doc/filezilla/

After you do that, just follow the link given in the first post to the Anime USA website, then go to Submission via FTP (way down at the bottom), sign up for an account, fill in the submission form, get your FTP account details and use those to upload your masterpiece using Filezilla. -deep breath-

Hope it helps... And if it doesn't help because I said something wrong over here, then you'll most likely get a lot better advice from an older--wiser--user whilst I get bashed over the head with a cyber-hanbō for trying to be a smart-ass newbie. :awesome:
