Try re-typing that with punctuation.

There, I can read it now.

So, you already tried masking the character? How exactly did it not 'work'? What was the problem?

-_____-,this is easily done, copy and paste the whole clip,1 on a track, and one on another track below it,mask the top one,and when you have the mask to the way you want it.....on the top(the masked one) go to its upper right hand corner, and wait until an arrow that has a square type thing around it shows up,and pull all the way to the left and hen you have a mask that fades away..

The fading away of just one masked character should work, but you have to have two tracks - the top one, and the bottom are the same; so copy one and put it below the one you want. Then mask out the guy and have the top track(masked track) fade away.

He answered your question, why didn't you read that before asking further?

Do you mean, you want to fade the mask to a lower opacity without fading it out altogether?

Seriously, punctuation helps in getting us to understand your problem so we can help you at all :?

I <3 sarcasm

But if you're trying to fade away a character, mask the character from a different scene, because unless you do, when you fade it away there will be a big black hole where the figure used to stand.

I think you might have already figured it out...but here's an easier explanation.

1) Put your clip in the timeline

2) Copy it and paste it on a second track below

3) Mask the first track so only the character is showing

4) Mask the invert of the first track in the second track so the character is NOT showing

5) Put a fade out in the first track

6) Voila, you have your effect

Oh, wait...did you want to have a big black hole in the middle or have the character fading away from a different scene?

In that case, here I go again.....

1) Put the scene of your character in timeline

2) Put different scene in second track below it

3) Mask the character so it's showing above the second track

4) Fade the first track out

5) Voila?
