You'll be amazed, but it wasn't luck at all apparently. My friend who joined me for his third year now, Cody, is friends with Sara I believe her name was, the girl who cosplayed as Shadow Sora on Saturday I believe, through an anime forum from years ago. He wanted to meet up with her and say hi once more, and Overflow was a good place, so we met up with her, she escorted us over, it was there I found out about the fact that apparently you and several others are in a coalition of creators of sorts ^^ And then she let me know you were among them and I was like "Really? Where is she?" "Right in front of you" "OH SHI-" *tap tap* "Hi there!"

I really wish I could have done the dinner, dammit... I wanted to meet some more creators in person so badly. Hopefully next year I'll actually be an official AMV creator if all goes according to keikaku.

And Deuce, I hope you've still got my e-mail, please fill me in. I'm all for moving forward on a fanparody. It will definitely require some serious, SERIOUS communication setups so we can all speak over teamspeak or something and get note-taking and all sorts of things to guarantee quality brainstorming and final product. Team Four Star's podcasts gave me that idea, they definitely seemed like good brainstorming sessions.

MAN it went over well. I'm sorry I'm an idiot and didn't know about the dinner. O_o I totally would have gone; I was in the harbor at around 8, if I recall correctly. :(

I LOVE it when the audience participates in what's going on - like clapping during the Fraggle Rock theme. (And when some army guys sitting next to me in the AMV Hell 5 premiere sang along with my Hetalia/Springtime for Hitler parody.... that was like, the ultimate honor...)

I was so happy to get great reactions for the project - and naturally, for my videos (the Ouran one didn't have people roaring with laughter, but that's what I was aiming for - it's definintely an "oh my god, that's hilariously horrible" kind of clip). I heard soooo many complaints about my AMV Contest video (searched twitter for otakon amv and saw a bunch of tweets like "OH GOD THIS VIDEO IS SO LONG KILL ME KILL ME" and "NIGHTWISH SHOULD NEVER BE USED IN ANY AMV EVER AGAIN"). I'm sort of taking the "any publicity is good publicity" point of view for this, and I'm actually not even bothered much by it (just disappointed in people's patience) especially since I wasn't sure if it would even make the finals, not knowing if it was engaging enough for non-DN fans... but it was so refreshing to hear all the laughs from the two premieres.

And it reminded me I may want to stick to comedy. ^^;

I THINK I spotted you at Iron Editor, but after all the videos had started - I didn't want to be a douchebag and run in front of everyone to introduce myself in the middle of everything, lol. I tried to keep an eye on you to see if/when you'd cut out to see AMVS4, but I think I missed it - I stayed to see the Drama/Serious category results anyway. (lol. oh well~)

AMV Salad 5 thread...we has it!

I chose a TENTATIVE theme, which as you know means "subject to change."

Spread the word!

Watching Salad I definitely learned that shorter is definitely better. With both the Rubber Ducky video and Thunderbird video there was a good reaction at first but I could like, literally feel the interest draining from the room as they went along. I should have cut mine to 15 seconds instead of 30.

Hehe, yeah, I kinda sensed that back a few betas ago. Thunderbirds I thought so initially, but I retracted my thought that it should have been shortened because I ended up liking the quick action cuts after it, but it was definite that the punchline landed the first time the 'Thunderbirds' logo landed. Rubber Ducky kept itself going well with the squeek when he hugged her, because I heard a few 'aww's out of the people near me. Definitely a clip for the females of the audience, but still fun enough that even if people don't know the series or weren't particularly fond of it, it was lampooned well while respecting it ^^

I think we did a good thing starting off with Gurren Rock and Rubber Ducky because they were long and gentle respectively, but also quite good and very much felt like they belonged to those anime. If Rubber Ducky were later, it would have reduced the energy considerably, not because it's bad or long at all, just the nature of the song and the clip itself. Heh, as I was afraid of, I couldn't tell how much of my Clannad one after those two got actual laughs and how much was the audio itself :D Hallmark hit beautifully as well, I think the edit earlier really really solidified it as I had hoped it would (and the grandmother's face was priceless), and Ace of Cakes, you can hear this one girl in my recording just squeeing like crazy... apparently she was QUITE in love with that anime :D

And Captain Planet I loved so much, I knew it would cause everyone to lose it, but I totally didn't expect Rock Lee at 'Heart!' to get the laughs because we'd see it so much. I was like 'no, no! Stop laughing the best part is coming up!' *everyone loses it at Naruto* 'Yessssss!!' Babewatch I have to admit wasn't a very strong clip and I think it being cut may have really helped overall, sorry Kei83, but you had a friggan goldmine in the Naruto clip!

Did any of you hear any type of reactions in general to Sony POS and Haruvi Baadoman? The quick speech and the audio I hope are the reasons their reactions seemed subdued in the front, but maybe the back heard it better.

Anyway, I'll get the video for ya'll as soon as I can compress it effectively.

Where I was sitting at least it took a little bit for people to start paying attention to Sony POS. People were talking and stuff before it became apparent that "oh wait, this is a funny thing" since some of the stuff going before it were pretty whatever. And several people around me commenting how they wish they could hear and genuinely upset they couldn't hear since what they could catch was so funny. And the Haruhi bit during the credits was well liked too, the people around me were cracking up at it interrupting the credits.

Did you see people stop and stick around when the interruption came on? And the room going dead silent for the next clip? "...wait for it...wait for it...PEDOBEAR!" Big hit. Then people tried to leave just as the final clip played and they had to stop again. The credits were a highlight on their own as a whole. Very nice!

Yup, the credits were set up beautifully apparently. The cutting off the credits went exactly as I'd hoped it would. And I'm glad I jumped in with that hypnotoad idea, it seemed to be the icing on the cake, and it was executed so well, too. I forgot, was that you moonbunnychan or was it Miko who did the hypnotoad one? Or was that the Tenchi one...? I forgot, I remember the original gag was yours moonbunnychan, but I remember Miko did one as well, right?

And the pedobear one was perfectly placed, too. I was nervous about it being there initially, but now I realize with a reaction like that it would have caused problems for whatever followed. Unfortunately the bounty hunter clip was lost, but it was the only one that got lost I think.

Anyway, I've managed to reduce my 2GB movie to 300megs, I may try to get it smaller, but where's a good place I can upload that to that it's secure? I may just make it a link from my website and let you all download from there. I'm being overly paranoid of it getting out, of course, but the lawyer granted me permission that basically violates their rules becuase I promised not to share it online outside of the creators. I'll probably have to have you all PM me if you want it so I can give you a direct link. Any ideas for a place to upload a 300 meg file?

I use Megavideo for large video uploads.
In fact, AMVS4 is uploaded there and still processing now.
Should be ready later this morning.
I'm also awaiting "large file" upload permission from the 'org.
The video has already received 86 hits and it isn't available to view yet.
I can't wait to make the announcement.
There are still four editors at large who have yet to confirm their participation in this...
