I'd like to request you think hard on how you can avoid the adult swim theme again. It was done for AMVS3 and as soon as repetition comes into the mix, you start killing the project's uniqueness I think.

Maybe you can go back to the "smoke" mentality and think of an inside joke to underline the entire thing without it needing to be as present. You asked for TV stuff, so perhaps going along those lines for something that unifies it will birth some new ideas. Like for example the TV ratings are absolutely insane if you've seen some of the strange acronyms. I have access to a professional microphone, we could dub in "The following clip is rated PG13, for irrelevant violence, a single curse word, and hypocrisy to the rating system." "The following clip is rated TV E. L. P. for "Everybody Loves Pantsu," for gratuitous fan service, endless Moe and please help us we are locked in this basement being forced to... rate... these clips...?"

Not that funny, but it utilizes the TV concept. I just came up with it randomly, and it's not a good idea if it's done seriously because it will prepare people for potential clips and ruin the surprise and humor potentially. If you did something ironic like "The following clip is rated X for unwatchable levels of eye-damaging pornography" followed by a Hamtaro clip or something. I dunno, but you have plenty of time, please do your best to go for something unique. And don't try too hard, best thing to do is just say "I'm looking for something, I'd like to be open to a good idea" and then just let it come to you without trying too hard. Give it some time and don't worry, we still have at least 3 months.

I'd like to see someone do one of those prescription drug ads where they list a million side effects. I also wanna see a few well-known TV theme songs done. I think I might do the Scrubs theme song with Dokuro-chan and call it "Scrubbed."

And, after a moment of thought, a couple of ideas for an opening came to mind. One is rather brief, fashioned after 24 ("The following takes place between whatever time it is now and 24 minutes from now..."). The title would be adjusted as soon as I know how long this year's episode actually is. Another idea I had was a Real World opening...something where we can introduce the editors in the beginning. Still thinking on it. I'm open to other suggestions.

Someone had an idea for the running gag but I haven't seen or heard from them in a while. This is probably the toughest part each year because it needs to bear the most impact. Again, let me know if any of you have ideas...

As soon as a gag is decided on, I'll definitely contribute to it :)

Ok this 'almost epic' BUGGED me for months :P , so now I had some time and decided to do something about it. I sat down and removed a couple of things that where annoying me as well. The video stayed the same length, but I repositioned a small part of video and stretched some other part to fill in over a piece that just didn't fit in (I'm sure you'll agree). I've also removed some lip action in the part following that, because it always annoys me when it's not correctly synced. There is some mouth action, but this is the best I could do without drawing a part of her face again. It's more her mouth closing though, no muttering, and it looks very nice.
I'm almost sure it shall now be labeled 'EPIC'. ;)

Also I've sent in my second submission which has -a LOT- of lip sync, I've started work on that months ago, but due to lack of time I never got around to finishing it. The lip sync isn't awesome because the series doesn't have that either, so it's really hard to find good parts to use. The result is pretty cool and I'm sure the clip will get some laughs. ( During encoding I noticed some serious 'saw action' due to wrong aspect ratio and encoding errors.. FFFUUUUU. I've sent it in as a 95MB DV avi o_O. That's the best I could do without utterly destroying the result, this looks fine. ). I might send in a v2 of this as well with some small adjustments (there are some parts that have changed colors / person movement because of scene changes that where pieced together.) For now, please see this as a final as I have no clue if I'm going to have time to fix this.

I've actually got quite a number ideas which are perfect for the Salad, but I'm not sure they will get a real laugh, though the combination is fun / original. I've also got a few ideas that are the same joke as in previous 'hell / salad style amv' but with different music / clips, so I won't do those..

I liked the clip and will PM you about the specifics soon. I'm just curious about why the color change? Was it something like a show where there's a conversation at dinner and the first person to talk is eating steak, then they cut to someone else for a second, and they cut back to the first person but now there's salmon on their plate? In other words, was that an error in the anime or a program glitch? Either way, there's potential there still. Again, I'll PM you about it. ;)

IIRC it was because of an error in the anime itself, or maybe the 'sunlight changed'. It is not a glitch in the encoding. It's a bit of background that turns from green to blue.
The other thing I'm not to happy about is when someone tilts up his head (again, there's a shot of the other person in between) in one frame to another.

These two faults can be solved with having either a png overlay, or with a mask. The first part I'm able to do easily, but the mask thing I haven't done a lot of times. I don't really edit that much

The last thing that I want to change is the lip sync in the beginning. From about halfway in the lip sync is fine, but the beginning has a bit to much lip movement. It's kind of watching a Bruce Lee movie.

Anyway, I'll prolly send in a v2 someday, but I'm not really sure when I have enough time to fix this. Might do it sooner rather than later though.
I also went through my 'themes' folder, there's enough potential there for another couple of clips :)

For those interested and attending Katsucon in less than two weeks,...

AMV Salad 3
Saturday 10pm
Live 3

The AMV Salad 4 folder is still pretty light. There are three months left to post-production.

Stargate Resistance is released on Feb. 10th, so theoretically after that my responsibilities will diminish and I can finally focus directly on more than generating ideas. I have a few I am certain I want to do, and others I'm still deciding on. I'll do my best to provide my best in a timely manner.

You may want to send out another round of PMs to those who have promised support though :) A reminder couldn't hurt.

I'll have my first hopefully ready soon, I decided that I didn't have adequate footage to get what I wanted specifically, so I'm doing another round of searching.

I still would very much like for you to submit AMVS3 to Otakon again this year. The other two got two runs, why not this one? ^^

Actually, the reason the other two were played so often was the way they scheduled the parodies. They chose to air the same block of parodies all three showings whereas last year they kind of packed the schedule and showed a couple of full-length OVA parodies both nights. Because of that, they only had room to play it once. Whether or not they plan on scheduling the same way this year is anyone's guess. I'll see what they say when the submissions open.

For the sake of not clearing the room, let's hope that they don't show those again. The Fist of the North Star parody was terrible, and a 30 minute gay joke that was just so bad that it wasn't even worthy of being offensive to gays (as claimed by my gay friend).

The live action Cowboy Bebop one was... well, if it weren't for seeing that my friends and I wouldn't have the 2-minute chocolate milk inside joke. They literally spent 2 minutes on a scene where some guy makes chocolate milk from scratch, spending the time to get the hershey's syrup together and pour the milk in real time, without even cutting, and proceeding to very elaborately prepare said beverage in vivid detail. The spoon stir was even a good 10-20 seconds. Although that particular film did grant a scene where people in the audience actually screamed the lines from my Death Note clip ^^ "F***ing jump!"

So yeah... resubmit AMVS3 for the love of sanity. Someone there will recognize "Hmm... ass, or something decent. Hey guys, do we want ass?"
"I don't think so, it smells like ass..."
"Okay, yeah, I agree, AMVS3 is by far better than ass."

...yep, I'm sure that's the exact conversation Pyson is a part of ^^
