I told you I would do it.
Sorry for it being over a year late ^^

~Moonlight Melody~ A Sailor Moon Music Tribute -Second Edition-

Note: The second link on the download page is the one for the remake of the project.
The first link is for the original 2006 version.
Even though some things have been trimmed in the project, the MEP is still pretty big
so keep that in mind if you aren't into long MEPs.

........................................................................
First off I want to say thank you to
everyone that made videos and put up with me
and all the problems with the first Moonlight Melody.
It was my first time running a project and things
didn't go real smoothly ^^;;
Im glad I was able to find other editors interested
in helping out the project.
Without you guys, this project wouldn't have ever been done.

I want to thank Ngsilver for hosting both
the original project and this one.
I know these huge files are probably really raping your bandwidth.

I want to thank everyone that gave advice and tips during the first project.
Every thing might not be perfect in this version
but it has a lot of improvements over the 2006 version.

Sorry to those who tracks were used in the 2006 version but
not in this one.
I appreciate you taking the time to do a video but I thought
It would be best to cut them from this project.

About Project:

Sailor Moon has always been my favorite anime
because it pretty much has everything in it
from comedy to romance to action to suspense.
The series also has an amazing large variety of music.
Over 40 Japanese music albums were released for the anime alone,
many of which were remixes of the previous albums in jazz style,
music box, French, etc. In addition, 33 different CD singles were
released, many of them centered around specific characters.
With so much great music available from the series, I thought
it would be perfect to make a multi editor tribute to it.

In this second edition of the project, there are some changes and
improvements over the original 2006 version

.Better Quality
.Smaller File size
.Multiple dropped tracks
.One updated Track
.One completely reworked track
.Improved Track Arrange
.Scrapped the Naoko tribute
.No track intro wallpapers before videos
.Videos run together more smoothly
.New Intro
.New Credits
.Now in MP4!
.Fixed problem with sync being off in a few tracks

Video Format: MP4
File size: 610MB
Length: 45:41

Editor's Video Notes:

Intro:
Instead of doing like the original intro and just showing various
clips of Sailor Moon, I thought id take a different route with it
and try something different.

Track 1:
Sailor Moon was one of the first anime I was introduced too.
It's still one of my favorites.
I've always wanted to use an upbeat song for Angelic Layer
so this was fun to make. The song I used, from the S
Season, is very fast and violin-ish so I was
able to do a lot of fast syncing and effects.

Track 4:
I love this music, and really enjoy working with instrumentals.
I am a HUGE fan of internal sync, and with instrumentals you can
play more with that kind of editing with better results.
This clip has a touch of the sad romance from the movie (IMO).

Track 7:

Yeah. I have kids. XD Totoro was just TOO obvious
an anime for this music, so I ran with it.

Track 8:
This song sounds like a love song, and I've always
wanted to make a romance video where the girl
sings about her love for the guy while cutting to
flashbacks and scenes of them being happy together.

I hope I pulled that off at least.

Track 9:
It is Supposed to have the paper Mario effect,
i thought it would be interesting to play with 2d figures
in a 3d space. Not only that, but i was kinda
out of clips to use that weren't violent or nude....

Track 10:
I've always wanted to make a romance video to Whisper of the heart,
as its hands down my favorite piece from Hayao Miyazaki,
and quite possibly one of my favorite movies period.
Sailor moon also was one of the first anime I really got into
when I was first getting into anime, so this seemed like a
perfect opportunity to give tribute to both.

The song reminded me of those cheesy 80s romance songs,
so I went the cheesy romance route with my video.
I tried to sync to whatever I could understand in
the song as far as lyrics go, but concentrated more on mood
and melody sync overall. I got the idea for the effect at the
beginning from a certain romance video that AtomX won at awa with.....
so blame him if it sucks ;p.

Track 11:
First off, sorry for blending the 2 ah/oh my goddess series,
i know the older series looks like it was encoded by pedobear..
that's why i had to try to cover it up with effects..
and as for the aspect ratio,

well im sorry i had to cut off the top and bottom of the
old series to match the new.. but sacrifices
must be made...

Track 12:
Some of the first AMVs I had ever seen were in RM format
using the English Sailor Moon music.
This particular song was done to the different
attacks throughout the series.
I wanted to pay tribute to these first AMVs I had ever seen
while providing an update to the style.

The only thing that is similar is that I used the same ending
scene for the video, but I timed it differently.

Track 13 Part B:
Believe it or not, this is a complete remake of my original video.
It was a pain to make but I wanted to update
the video with better quality footage and some different seen changes.
Some of the stuff is probably going way overboard but I don't care
cause it was the funnest video I ever worked on and
was my first Sailor Moon AMV. ^_^
The new version has some different sailor moon scenes,
more multiple anime mixing and more magical girls during
during the multiple transformation section.

I hope you enjoy the Moonlight Melody Project.

There is one error I notice after the MP4 was made
Its not major though
(In the credits the "sound effect" credit wallpaper repeats)
but I might re upload a version with that fixed
before I delete the large Lagarith files.

.................................................................
Thanks to everyone that helped out in the project and gave suggestions and stuff.
Even though I couldn't use all of them, i appreciate all the help you gave.
I'm glad i decided to do make this project happen.

I was wondering wtf you were up to with this O.o

my piece looks way over filtered @_@
and so did a few of the other pieces O.o

I think it would have been cool if the intro had the names of the editors in it like opening credits

i do like the transitions a bit better though

I want to thank you guys for making that MEP. That was an awesome tribute to one of my favorite animes that drug me into the hobby over 12 years ago. I can not believe how many songs I remember for all those years ago. I used to DL all the midi's off the net before mp3s were wide spread. I loved the MEP a lot, great job. 5/5 and thats not really for great editing but mostly a nostalgia thing for me(even though the editing was good)...man there are times I dont need to wonder why my friends think im gay tehe.

I still haven't got used to this new forum lol

Its cool that it took you a while to get the links ready, NG.
I know you were very busy with the conventions you help with.

Sorry if a few tracks look a lil too filtered.
At first i was just gonna do some color enhancements to some tracks but later I
thought id use a smooth filter on some.
That probably wasn't a good.
I knew i should have tested it out on a differen't monitor ^^;
Hopefully the smoothing won't bother people too much.
If its a problem, I can probably upload a fixed version since I still have the Lagarith files on my HD.

lol I used to download the midis too and im one of the people that makes them ^_^
Sailor Moon is also one of the shows that got me into anime.
The funny thing is when i first heard about sailor moon, I said that's a show I'd never watch.
Funny how things turn out ^_^

I had planned on making a video to my favorite song (Moonlight Destiny) and have it in the release but i thought that might be going too far since the project was already 45 minutes long =)

I would love to see a version which is not oversmoothed. You loose line details with this warpsharpen-filter.

I also always wonder if it is possible to get seperate tracks, is there a possibility to split such files without reencoding them?

Alright
I'll see if I can fix this issue but I need to know exactly what tracks have the problem.
There are a few tracks that already had high smoothing before i received them so I can't do anything about those but I can fix Katie's and a few others if pointed out. ^^;
Let me know the main culprits so I can do a quick fix to the project
cause there is no way I want to mix the whole project again and even out all of the audio and stuff >.>

As for splitting the video to get certain parts, I don't think you can do that with an MP4 (most likely you would have to re encode it) but im sure alot of the members in the project have released a solo version of what they made.
If there is one you need, I can upload it and send you a link too
I still have all of the tracks backed up.

Mine has been available on my profile for over a year, but since it was one of the sucky ones, don't get it... for the most part its up to the individual editors to release their tracks separately in order to get the separate tracks.

I'd have to watch it again to point out the ones that look over filtered...
