Evangelion- Behind Their Eyes
______________________
I worked a lot on this video, about 82 hours over the past two weeks. I was aiming pretty high for this video, hopefully it will end up where I hope it will. I used clips from pretty much every episode (the original collection DVDs) and DVD videos (D&R/End of Eva) of Evangelion in this video and it was a long, tedious, and fun build. All of my test viewers responded positive to it aside from some of the things they found wrong with the video (glitchy parts).
Leave an op if you can, thanks!
Also, I have several different versions. The watered down version for the ORG, one that I put on Utube, and then what I will call the definitive version that is linked to my site.
Differences:
Org: SD 720x480|3,000,000 Video Bitrate| 44.1Khz stereo|93.7MB
UTube: HD 1280x720|6,000,000 Video Bitrate| 44.1Khz stereo|187MB
Definitive: HD 1280x720|10,000,000 Video Bitrate| 44.1Khz 5.1 Surround|275MB

Re: Evangelion- Behind Their Eyes
You'll probably recieve better crit from someone who has seen Evangelion, but here's my opinion: Just to start off, it was great. Your clip choice was great. It had a lot of emotional impact. I know I haven't seen Eva, but I definitely feel you did the best in which clips you chose. Also, you did really good in editing the part where Fred spells out Limp. I was honestly anticipating that part when the video first began. But you nailed it. Incredibly creative.
I was stunned at that part. I loved all the parts you used text, actually. It was so fitting and added a lot more to your video. Normally, I'd be talking all about how the font was bad, but I actually thought you picked a good font.
There are a few cons though. The lip sync. I can tell it must have taken a lot of work, but it simply did not fit. Not when Shinji sung it, or Asuka sung it, or that one old guy. I feel that it took away from your video. You could have synced the video like you were when there wasn't lipsync, and I think it would have been better. This would have been a dead on 5/5 from me if it weren't for that and the conflicting aspect ratios. The aspect ratio changed a few times, which isn't that big a deal, but still not a good thing. Oh, and yes, there were a few glitchy parts, but mainly in the lip-sync portions.
Overall, I was very pleased when I didn't expect to be. 4.5/5

With the Eva series, now I HAVE to check this out....geowil11_3 wrote: Definitive: HD 1280x720|10,000,000 Video Bitrate| 44.1Khz 5.1 Surround|275MB
...Evangelion Bluray Renewal out already?
/sarcasm
Edit:
Just a question..., why did you make it HD?
This is just 4:3 with large black borders to compensate HD for the size so it was pointless, it would have been better if you just resized it to 640x480 or let it be in it's native size 720x480, which I know the local is but still..., it seems you just wasted time in encoding an HD format.
Also, since you made a 720p version you should have just ran it through your mp4 maker to begin with for a much smaller size, rather than a shitty wmv format.
Anyways enough of the quality bitching, some of the sync and editing I did like, but not so much the lip sync, sorry.
Honestly this is one of my Limp Bizkit songs, ( even though it's a cover ).

First for the HD thing, since I uploaded and HD version to YT I didn't want to go back to the ORG's AR for the direct link version since it was to be the best version out of the three.HazeFM wrote:With the Eva series, now I HAVE to check this out....geowil11_3 wrote: Definitive: HD 1280x720|10,000,000 Video Bitrate| 44.1Khz 5.1 Surround|275MB

Having said that I had to compress into a WMV even though I did not want to. Reason is that when I tried to compress to a mp4 with Sony AVC it always shot out a "This template is incompatible with the current project settings" error when I added 5.1 surround to the video. I may re-release the definitive version without the 5.1 at a later time though.
Thanks for the comments!

The Org doesn't really have a specific ar, it just goes by what the video's ar is.geowil11_3 wrote:

Re: Evangelion- Behind Their Eyes
Wow, right on time. I just finished watching Evangelion yesterday and was searching through some eva vids, and I find this.
Hm... I mostly agree with the previous two comments... This video has its strong points and its weak points. Scene selection was great, and the editing that made them flow together was also great for the most part. But yeah, the lipsynch did not belong here. Not only did it look blocky and awkward, it was out of place and completely destroyed the flow. It wouldn't have been that bad if the scenes had been shorter, but they were too prolonged. The one time I felt the lipsynch did fit and actually added to the video was Asuka's short scene at the end, that was good.
Aside from that and the resolution stuff (which I know you tried hard to fix, too bad you couldn't work it out) I enjoyed this video a lot. I love the striking similarities between it and the series itself, such as the way you used the short stills and text. The part of the video from about 2:30 to 3:05 was just
Good job, looking forward to more videos from you

I was referring to the AR in the ORG version of my video, not implying that the ORG itself had a specific AR.gotegenks wrote:The Org doesn't really have a specific ar, it just goes by what the video's ar is.geowil11_3 wrote:

and I know what he meant Zarx, I won't get fully into it here, but on another topic I mentioned that I could not get Vegas to render a lossless avi properly. I tried about 25 different settings with the finished vid but always got the same result as with I did when I was dealing with the issues that I posted about in that other topic; audio would improperly render.

I normally don't even deal with lip syncing, accidentally or no, so I wanted to try something new on this video and force the lip sync, might have gone overboard with it looking back on things xD.

Re: Evangelion- Behind Their Eyes
The editing was pretty nice. Thought scene choice was good. Liked the thing at 1:08-1:09. Felt that you picked a perfect song, it really fit Evangelion's mood. Liked it overall and would definitely watch another video by you in the future.
The font I didn't like. The lip sync I didn't like. Why does the AR switch in the video? Some places could have transitioned better. The end was really abrupt imo.
