Hokay, honesty time.
Efflorescent Dawn:
I've felt this way since I first saw it on the Pro disc: It feels really hollow. Basically the entire time I'm watching this video I feel like you're just trying to take a bunch of cheap shots at my emotions by using angsty scene after angsty scene without any real purpose. I mean, the editing in this video is spectacular as always, the scene selection just feels predictable, shallow, and disconnected. It's hard for me to connect with the video at all really. Maybe it's just me, this video just feels like it could have been something a lot more.
Also, all sarcasm aside, the climax is really disappointing. I mean, you had what, like 15 anime to choose from, and you chose one of the single most overused climax scenes in the history of AMVs.
3/5
Timeless:
This is the better video, in my opinion. What I like about this one a lot is that it showcases your ability to use simple editing techniques effectively, and as a storytelling video without any real effects this is a pretty nice video. I have a few gripes, though, one of which is that the video seems to drag until about halfway/two-thirds through when the conflict in the story actually arises. It's kinda boring up until then because it's the same scenes over and over for two and a half minutes - there's only so much you can show of two people being in love before it gets repetitive. Cutting the song may have helped. My other problem - and one I'll go into more detail about when I write your op - is that this video would have hit me WAY harder emotionally if you had portrayed a tragic ending instead of a happy one. And I mean WAY harder.
As it stands though, this is a good romance/drama video - not your best (neither are, IMO), but much above average.
4/5
So in general, do I think you're improving? To answer simply, no, I don't. You've kind of come to a standstill and I think the big reason is because you keep doing the same kinds of videos over and over. If you experiment and do other genres - hell, you could even stay within drama, just drop the romance front - I think you'll really amaze me like you did the first time I saw Raging Sorrow. So I'm waiting for that.
