Anime Detour Indie Video Set List 2009

Postby JudgeHolden » Sat Apr 04, 2009 10:44 pm

As Promised here is the set list for the Indie AMV panel I ran (with Phade's invaluable help) this year at Anime Detour. Since we where kinda flying by the seat of our pants the list is not in order per se, but they should all be there. Thanks again for an amazingly fun time, it was cool to see such a huge room filled to standing room only. It was great meeting you all and yes I will make another video someday, for those who asked.

Since Strawberry Kiss really doesn't upload to the org, and her videos are really not known here, then yes. That video wasn't part of the DDR MEPs, fyi.

So a non-mainstream amv is considered indie or something? :?:

That is the definition in the vernacular.

I guess it's a matter if you define the Org AMV makers as mainstream. Sure all the best AMVs tend to come from Org AMV makers, but the main AMV scene seems to be on the Tube. Conventions announce contests here, but there seems to be a large count of AMVs and AMV makers on the Tube. It confuses me a little :? There's this weird balance/imbalance.

Basically I wanted to highlight lesser know editors and videos. In addition, videos I felt where / are underrated or forgotten about. I had many people come up to me today and yesterday thanking me for introducing them to the above videos (hence this list being posted), so I think I achieved my goal. Of course, one can take issue with any list; and I had tons more to play, but time was against me playing them all.

Oh, and Unlimited Rice's video was well loved as they all where. It was cool to allow Zacloud to stand up and take a bow after her video was played. :D

This was definitely a huge success. Thanks for holding this event dude. ALL the ones you picked to be in it were awesome, and I'm glad to have been able to discover them through the event, as I'm sure the ecstatic audience members were too. I've subsequently showed them all off to all my friends and family, so hopefully these hidden gems will get more noticed. As it is, it was great that such a large audience got entertained and educated. (And they liked mine, squeeee! :ying: )

Thanks tons, for putting on such a great show. I hope similar things can happen at next year's Detour. (Maybe Diasho? Maybe Otakon? lol, ok I'll shut up. )
