Aside from losing motivation, I think a lot of it has to do with my desire to constantly listen to music. Editing a video and listening to my music collection are just two activities I can't really do at the same time for obvious reasons... The single song being edited to doesn't cut it either.
This.

Only less AMVs. Just about 20.

Spoiler :
I edit without effects partially because I like the challenge of portraying a feeling or story without going beyond what a live broadcast can do editing wise. But mostly it's because when I try to do anything with AE it fails miserably.
Spoiler :
I have around 50 ideas for videos I've started prep work on and thus have source and project files for, but no clue when I will finish them.
Spoiler :
I have countless other ideas just floating in my head with no clue when I'll ever start on them.

Spoiler :
Series with a lot of episodes intimidate me, and some of my favorite ideas are with 52 and 104 episode series. I have about 1/3 of a video done with the first 25 eps of the 104 series, but I lost all desire to go through the other 79.
Spoiler :
I think it's Code's fault that I enjoy working for MEPs so much. And Dar's.
Spoiler :
I'm already better at making AMVs than my husband, who's been doing this longer and placed at Otakon all 3 times he entered. I feel bad for his manliness.
Spoiler :
I want to learn how to use effects, but when it comes down to it, I don't think I would be able to use them properly. So far, I've never worked on a video and thought "Oh, this could really use some effects here."

Spoiler :
I'm way less impressed with just about every AMV I watch than I used to be. Also, I think I've become more of an asshole because of it.

Conformity is boring. Besides, if people have read this far into the thread, they must have been clicking a bunch of the spoiler buttons. Might as well save them the trouble. :P

Ideas, like Bobo Balde, get better on the bench. The project that I'm working on is always, while I'm working on it, crud, intractable, and likely to be cancelled. The next project in the list is a much better fit, will edit cleaner, will take less production time, and will come out closer to the original idea.

Morepigs are largely to blame for the nosedive in my ability to finish videos since mid-2006. Worse, I wasn't much good at them either.

There is an idea on my to-do list that has been there for the last 9 years, and will probably be more than 10 years old by the time I get around to doing it. The good news is that the anime for that idea has come out on DVD in the US in the intervening time, and I don't have to worry about capturing like 20 tapes' worth of fansubs to work on it. This is the idea that, in a deep and fundamental sense, I started editing AMVs in order to do. Other stuff just got in the way.

Despite having a nonlinear editing system, I don't edit nonlinearly. I continue to start at 00:00 and go through the timeline front to back until I run out of audio, just as I did when I had one video track and effectively no nonlinearity.
