I always wanted to make a really good Transformers music video, but could never quite find the right song. In part, this was because I always felt that the movie's main strength was more spiritual than emotional, and I wanted to make a video to reflect that, but I had very few songs with religious themes because I'm not religious. I'd loosely considered using "Tourniquet", but I felt that it was too esoteric and couldn't be done from a consistent perspective. I ended up making "Decepticon Politics" (see below) instead. Then one day, I got pretty high and decided that the problems with "Tourniquet" were minor and really shouldn't stop me, so I sat down and started planning it out. This was when I realized what the song was actually ABOUT. So I decided that the video, instead of being about the religious themes in the movie, should be about Hot Rod seeking redemption for his screwups... and as the plan was changed during the editing process, it ended up not really being about that, either.
So there's no consistent "point" or "theme", lyrics are taken grossly out of context, the narrative perspective shifts around erratically, and most of the lyric/scene matches will probably seem random to people who don't worship Optimus Prime as their own personal One True Lord and Savior. But it's still pretty damn good, and the best TF music video that I know of.
