  • Comments: This is another idea I came up with in the shower one day. I really like Shun's driving bits, which are criminally underused after episode 13.
Funny enough, I wanted to keep it to just Shun, but Reiko snuck in(as she's the only other one to pilot the Gate Robo other than Shun), and I just had to include Megane somewhere.
This could be technically considered my "first" anime music video; even though I've done music videos before. Not that people seem to care..

Again, done with freely available software; Axogon Composer 0.93, CoolEdit 2000, TMPGEnc(old version). Added in this rendition was Virtual Dub 1.4c and HuffYUV.

Almost all footage is from the very-high-quality DivX grabs of broadcast episodes(yes, unsubbed); they were further ripped into HuffYUV to provide quality. I'm fairly pleased with the result. One section is taken from the opening to the PSX game(it should be fairly obvious). Thanks to VirtualDub's excellent filters though, there was no crazy frame-mismatching.

This one had a few more problems to put together than Keep Hope Alive however; the original rippers started out at low FPS, then went higher. Coupled with Axogon's lack of speed editing, the end result has some hyperactivity in some areas, and clumsiness in others. Specifically the scene at 2:35, which will probably make no sense to anybody who hasn't watched past episode 7(due to the higher frame rate, I couldn't stick in Shun actually shaking the envelope and finding it empty). Other general problem places include 2:02(note color change when I tried to stick on a repeating clip) and 2:48(where sharp-eyed viewers can see the obvious effects of editing out the windshield).

Parts I'm especially proud of: the opening "ignition" scene, the whole 2:06 scene(would you believe that Shun's "oh my goodness!" was TOTALLY by accident?), the hyperactive bits at 0:31, 2:39, and how well the lyrics were to match in the 0:51 scene.

11/03/01 : the filehoster needs his webspace back, so the direct link is now removed. It's obviously still available at Waldo's FTP.
