  • Comments: This is my very first attempt at making an AMV, I hope you enjoy it and leave a comment. I got the idea randomly one night, and I had been wanting to get around to making an AMV for quite some time. So several weeks later after many long hours I finished it.

Originally I hadn't planned on doing any lip-synching, but when I had finished setting up my preliminary scene placement, one of the cuts landed something that looked amazing, I said "What the Heck!" and decided to go all out. I would love comments on how well or poorly that turned out.

I apologize for the quality of the footage. I was unable to get ahold of any raws or dvds, so I had to remove subtitles by hand using photoshop. Never again! That was the most painful thing I have ever done. I don't know how noticeable the residuals are, but I hope it's very minor.

I don't think there are too many Tsukuyomi videos out there (looks like two here at AMV.org - and I feel pretty confident saying mine is superior to both of them). If you feel like you need a plot synopsys, well A) that means I didn't do my job well enough, but B) check out Animenfo or another similar site. In a nutshell: a photographer finds a vampire girl in a castle in Germany, frees her from her caretaker and she follows him to Japan, claiming that he is now her servant. Hilarity and cuteness ensue.

At the time this video was made only 17 episodes had been released by the fansubbers, so that's all the footage I used.

Other aspects of the vid I am very interested in getting feedback on include:
Pacing - Did it start off too slow, or finish too fast?
Synching - How well do you feel the action matched the music and the lyrics? I kind of had the story planned out, but I don't know if it came across that well. I feel bad about adding in the fight scenes, as they kind of seem like just filling time, but I also wanted this video to serve as an introduction to what Tsukuyomi is all about.
Effects - I only had limited options, but I hope the ones I did complemented the video okay.
Transitions - Eek, this is where I feel the worst as I mostly just did straight cuts, with occasional wash ins and fades.
End blurb - I thought it was cute, did you think it was dumb?

This video was made entirely in iMovie, on a PowerMac G4. I have encoded it in DIVX, XVID, and quicktime formats, but am making the DIVX version available for compatability sake. If you would prefer a different version, do not hesitate to email me about it (or anything else frankly) at j_purdham@hotmail.com. I don't check it as regularly as I should, but I'll see it eventually.

I chose August first as the premier date, as I believe that's when I started showing it privately to my friends. I have decided that this AMV will never air at a Con.

I would like to thank the following people:
Mahou fansubs, for their hard work and dedication to this relatively obscure feature.
Ben Hardy and my other beta testers.
    The AMV guild at gaiaonline.com.
And cliche as always, my parents.

I may add to or alter this section in the future.
