  And so it comes to an end, the most ambitious thing I've attempted in the world of AMVs. So far. Utena is a rich and deep series, and it deserves to have good AMVs made from it; that was my goal and I think I've done fairly well. I'm a little bit proud of the fact that I managed to do three very different vids with the series and not reuse a single frame of footage.
  
  WARNING: this video has heavy spoilers, moreso than either of the previous Trilogy vids. If you haven't seen all of Utena, I recommend you do so before watching this. If you haven't seen Utena at all, I recommend you do so. ::grin::
  
  "Silent Rose" was actually the first AMV in the Trilogy that I made. It's a profile piece for Anthy, whom I feel often gets overlooked among the rest of the cast but is probably the most interesting character, considering all that's happened to her. I remember watching Utena for the second time and realizing just how much she was manipulating things, just by pretending to be a simple, helpless girl. After hearing this song a few dozen times (yes, Garbage is my favorite band and I will be making more AMVs with their music), I realized that I could use it to reflect her, to show just what she goes through.
  
  A few minor artistic-type bits: there are several points where other people are talking when Anthy's also on-screen, but she herself doesn't move her lips (unless she's screaming) except for one specific scene; this is deliberate and goes with the theme of the vid. Some of the cuts and transitions are just a little off, a friend of mine said that this has a dissonant and uncomfortable effect so I decided to leave them in.
  
  Another friend who saw the vid said that it was good but that he didn't like it - I suppose that's all right, though I don't know if that was the goal. This is not a sit-back-and-enjoy kind of vid; it's pretty much a summary of the very unfortunate life of someone who's gone through several different kinds of hell and who literally could not escape without someone else's help. Either way, I hope you find it worth watching.
