**********
Fair warning: this video contains only long-duration still pictures set to classical music with no vocals. Call it a sequence of "pictures at an exhibition" that tell the basic storyline of Hans Christian Anderson's fairy tale. An extreme case of all story and no effects.
The anime is a (now) very rare version of The Little Mermaid directed by Tomoharu Katsumata (Grandizer, Arcadia). There is no relation to Disney's movie or its sequels, all of which appeared more a decade after this anime.
The music is from Act III of this orchestration. It's title is "The Young Prince and the Young Princess".
The video was created with the original version of Sonic Foundry's Video Factory. Ulead's PhotoImpact 7 was used to process and enhance the still pictures. The source material came from the only known release of this anime which was on a low speed VHS tape.
This project is as nearly perfect as any of AMVs on this list. Not that it could not be improved - with better source footage, for example. But in terms of the concept and the style of presentation, it is exactly the way I had pictured it.
