After 3 months of working on this video, and more than that planning, this video is finally done. And I have to say, I'm extremely pleased with how it turned out.

Legend of Basara is a 13-episode anime series that covers the first 5 volumes of a same-named 27-volume manga series. I made this video both as a tribute for fans of the show and to introduce others to this underrated series. As such, it does contain a great number of spoilers, but as the anime itself is a primer to the manga, don't hesitate in downloading this video. It'll be worth it. ;)

I used fansubs for this video, which was a pain in the butt. Eventually I got sick of removing subtitles, so the video *is* letter-boxed. However, I hand-boxed it to make sure that no crucial details in the bottom half of the screen were cut out. This also meant I still had to remove subtitles from some scenes, but I was ok with that. :) The time and effort I put into this paid off in my opinion.

I know that this song has been used before, by Himiko and Aluminum Studios, but this video is drastically different from both of them. The song "Desert Rose" is so complex, with multiple layers of sound to work with, that I wanted to use the song to its full potential. I believe I succeeded in that, as throughout the video you'll notice the clips flowing to different parts of the song. In one section I'll follow Sting, then match Cheb Mami's vocals, then perhaps there'll be some action on percussive beats. It keeps the video dynamic.

This is also very much a story video. While the video focuses almost exclusively on Tatara and Sarasa, every episode and major character does make an appearance. The first 30 seconds focus on Sarasa's childhood to set the stage, so to speak, for people who haven't seen the show. Actually, the video follows the anime chronologically almost entirely, but it does so without dragging. It almost made making the video more challenging, since I limited myself to certain scenes for every verse. But the end result turned out very nicely.

Of course, this video has its flaws. Near the end I started losing direction, so if those scenes seem random (they really aren't though) I apologize. I'm still in the euphoric glow from completing this, so please give criticism and point out anything else you see. Tell me what you like as well. ;)

All in all, I'm very happy with this video, and I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy it too. So download it and let me know what you think.

    Enjoy!
