::::::::WARNING! THIS VIDEO HAS BERSERK SPOILERS.::::::::
-I don’t think you’ll “get” the video anyway if you have not seen the series.
:::-Boring Creative Process Crap-:::
When I first heard this song, I knew I wanted to do something with it. It took me a while to find the right medium though. I heard this song before I watched Berserk, which is a first for me.
Let me explain.
Normally, I find an anime I enjoy, and going looking for a song that will work for a video. This was the first time I heard the song, and wanted to find an anime that would go with it. Oddly enough, this made the going much easier. The song fit very well, however, like many of my other videos, the true meaning of the video only becomes apparent if you put the lyrics and the pictures together. This, while fun for me, tends to create a boring video, especially if you have not seen the series.
I enjoyed making it though. This is by far, the fastest video I have ever put together. It only took about three weeks from start to finish. I started it about a week before Anime Expo 2004, and after watching the AMV contest, was motivated to finish it quickly after I got home. My projects (mostly due to limited time in front of the computer) often range from 5 months to a year and a half. Something I was planning to speed up until I ran into a project (not anime related) I signed on to. I need to finish that before I can create anything amv-wise. However, I figured I would put this video up, as I’ve been sitting on it for a while.
:::-Boring Technical Crap-:::
This is a simple project, like the rest of my videos. Other than a fades, there are no effects what so ever. It was made on Final Cut Pro HD 4.5, and I used the new Pixlet Codec from mac as my source. Speaking of which…
Like all of my other videos, this was made on a mac. I’m getting better with video Codec and what have you. I’m still not quite sure how to make this work. This is my first video I have been able to encode into an .avi file, thanks to Handbrake. If you’re a mac user and want to know how to do what I did, drop me a line. I’m not going to boar everyone else more than I already have.
:::The Song:::
I think most people have heard it at one point or another now. I’m using the Gary Jules cover, which was made for the cult film “Donny Darko”
Lyrics
All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places
Worn out faces
Bright and early for the daily races
Going no where
Going no where
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression
No expression
Hide my head I wanna drown my sorrow
No tomorrow
No tomorrow
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I’m dying are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles its a very very
Mad world
Mad world
Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy birthday
Happy birthday
And I feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen
Sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me
No one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what’s my lesson
Look right through me
Look right through me
And I find I kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I’m dying are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles its a very very
Mad world
Mad world
Enlarging your world
Mad world

+Ani-Magic Finalist
I might submit to AX 2005, since I finished it AFTER the contest, even if it was only by about two weeks.
