Title: An Unbreakable Relationship...Utena and Anthy
Song: "I Love You" by Martina McBride
Anime: Adolescense Of Utena (Revolutionary Girl Utena The Movie)
Hours: About 12 hours or so
This video has a strange story behind it so please bear with me and try to read all of my comments.
On January 3, 2002, I was up late at night working on my "Girls Rebel!" video when I realized that Katsucon's deadline was the 25th! I almost screemed because I forgot. "Girls Rebel!" was only roughly 15% done. Either I had to shove random clips into a video and send it off or work on another project. Decisions, decisions. I called up my best friend Andrew and asked him what to do. He thought that sending off "Girls Rebel!" would be a good idea. I didn't personally think so. Then, random clips of Utena the Movie shot straight through my head along with the song "I Love You" and for some reason, I hung up the phone, and ran to my VCR. With my ghetto 2 VCR ways, I managed to try to remember some good clips, but yet the same clips kept running together in my head. I slipped my dubbed version in but for some reason felt that I should use the fansub (I think there's like one scene that's not in the dub). Well, this video is about the "lesbian" relationship between Utena and Anthy. A little lemon warning, but not alot.
Today, January 6, 2002, I actually got it done. I had an entire weekend to work on it, so I worked on it for about a half-hour and then did about 10 minutes on "Girls Rebel!". By doing this procedure, I managed to get the video finished and the whole thing looking good. My best friends were coming over and so I thought, hey, what the heck, lemme show them about what I've been working on. When everyone was there, the all plopped down on the couch and I inserted my Maxell Gold tape and hit play.
After the first 30 seconds I showed, all eyes were on the TV. At about the 2 minute mark, they were all still watching, none of them even looking away from the TV. Then, at 2 minutes and 55 seconds, the video ended, and they all turned to me, and cheered. I never felt so good about a video in my entire life! I brought it to school too, and my Chorus class loved it! To me, this video was a complete success, and I think I know why.
"Girls Rebel!" has been worked on for 50 hours and it's still not complete. I think that this video let me open up more emotionally and realize that it doesn't take alot of time to make something good. Well, that's only part of the story. After that, I showed them about 15 seconds of "Girls Rebel!" and they all said, "Good, but "I Love You" ruled!" I smiled and felt so good about the video. This has been a huge learning expierence.
Now, on to the biggie. Why isn't my video up yet?! I really want it to premiere at Katsucon so that people can see my work, but, if you e-mail me, I can send you a copy through the mail.
There are two people who I'd personally like to thank:
Mirai MM - For giving me so many tips on videos and really expanding my knowledge on AMV making.
MeriC - For being so awesome and providing such a large library of videos to compare to.
Expect the video soon!
