This was my first attempt at making an Anime Music Video.
I thought it would be well worth it to put this video up as an
example to all those who can't afford Adobe Premiere or any
sort of video hardware that you can achieve anything with
enough persistence and determination.
Sailor Moon sparked my interest into Anime, and my interest
in AMVs came from an AMV done to Sailor Moon.
This video was made with sample clips of Sailor Moon I collected
over the past 6 months and put together using a copy
of Windows VidEdit (Beta 0.98) I found on ftp.cdrom.com. The
program was very linear and worked much like the Windows Sound Recorder.
With wonderful features like destructive editing, you could only insert single
frames at the end of the AVI frame sequence. The program could not read
any other codec than the one it saved in, so every frame of this video was copied
as a BMP from one AVI file and inserted into the frame index at 15 frames a
second. This made syncing really hard, as it was quite fond of overwriting
frames rather than inserting them.
After it's completeion, I used a laptop with a simultaneous video out display and recorded
the video to VHS while the video was fullscreened. You can imagine how 160x120
looks on tape, thus why it was never submitted to any contests.
Refuse to lose!
Video tech specs:
Pentium II 200mhz
32mb ram
800mb hdd
Win '95
MS-VidEdit (16-bit)
160x120 compressed AVI clips
