    i've finally finished my new project called "Victims of War". Its made to the great anime "Grave of the fireflies", one of the most impressive works of the studio Ghibli, mixed up to a slow but very strong instrumental song called "nocturne" (winner of the european song contest in 1995).

    Editing:
    I tried something new (for me) by implementing some original footage (photos) from World War 2/Pacific War, cause I thought that a little dose of "realism" would effect the viewers much more than any animated footage can. It was quite time consuming to get all these historical photos as they had to be high quality in order to apply some motion effects like scaling and panning on it. I also paid special attention on the fades between these two different types of footages, they should never seem "abrubt" or unnatural -and with the B&W effect used for the whole video makes the live pictures fit in quite seemlessly (i hope so :-)

    The Video starts with a (audio) passage of F.D. Roosevelt's declaration of war upon japan , mixed up with footage of Pearl Harbor and and a ceremonie of the japanese army (from the film) . Then I paned from the, so to speak, "global view" to Seita's and Setsukos's fate, the main actors of the film. The rest of the AMV stresses the suffering and deprivations, which the two children must bear during the pacific war.
