Comments:
Well after all the videos and all the comments made about my videos (so far) I really want this one to stand out. I took an anime some what over used and use an artist rarely used and a song I never seen used (from what I know of). The song has little to do with the real storyline of the anime. The boy named sue is not the guys real name, I mostly tried to put to opposites together to make one weird AMV. People can't say I didn't try making this a good video because I did try to make this a good video. I would like to say that this is the least bloodiest AMV done for Samurai X except for one or two parts there is mostly no limb detachement. There is not much action only in the close to the end. Most of it is story telling and bunch of lip sync.
(2003 Revision Comments)
Honestly I never thought about remaking this AMV immediately. It came to me after deciding that my SWORDS project just wasn't going to end up how I wanted it to be. My good friend RJ (who is also Shadow Productions) allowed me to borrow his anime for awhile so I could attempt my SWORDS project but after figuring out that it wouldn't work I decided well what can I do? I was going to remake some of my old AMVs so when i brung them out on LOCAL download they wouldn't be crucified by the type of people who review AMVs these days and expect everything to be crystal clear and special effects to the hilt. Sinc emos tof the AMVs I did in the past I did with little knowledge of how to make video quality better and captured most of the anime from the start of making AMVs to the end of 2002. Since Samurai X (Kenshin OVA I beleive) was one of the anime Rj allowed me to borrow I thought why not use that and revamp "A Boy Named Sue".
For those who have seen the old AMV there is not much of a difference in how the story is told and scenes used. However when Iw anted ot revamp this AMV I want it to be in better quality since like I said before i used VHS most of the time, while with this I used DVD. So the video quality is better, the audio quality is better as well since i had a copy of "Johnny Cash: 16 Greatest Hits" (so what I like Johnny Cahs music, I dont care what people think) this time around I thought instead of using the MP3 which is rather not very good quality, this version how is is crisp clear in my opinion.
Another reason why I wanted to remake this one is to get in more practise with lip sync. Anyone who has seen my AMVs know that my greatest weakness even now is lip sync. So I used this AMV to try and train myself to better my lip syncing skills. So you will see a slight improvement but keep in mind I am still not all good at it.
There are some slight changes in scene selection, and there are a few transitions to show time passed, etc etc.
WEAKNESSES (READ BEFORE MAKING COMMENTS)
Yes I know the audio is in live audience type, but its all I could find and i didn't want to get an MP3 with if there was a studio performance of the song since I wanted to use as best audio quality as I could find and the one on the CD fit.
There is one minor flaw in the AMVwhen "Sue" says "seems I had to fight my whole life through" at the end of that speech it gets shaky and the mouth flaps. That I spent hours trying to remove but it wouldn't go away and went at trying to just have one frame and keep it continuous through the end of that sequence but all of the trails failed so dont ram it down my throat I know thats a weakness.
THE LIP SYNC - i know it may not be up to part with the others but i tried going frame by fram as well as vioce. I feel I sort of got it down path but like I said you dont need to shun me about it. I am still trying to get better however.
The end speech that tells the conclusion of the tale there is a point where the singer says "and every time I win" and that is where the guy I picke dot be "Sue"'s mouths didn't flip to show sync, there are two reasons 1) The guy's eyes were wide open before the quinting and the close of the mouth for the few seconds and simply re using the other scenes before to sync that part then imediately cut to when he has to turn his hea di thought was not logical and nor real. Also I dont know and refuse ot learn how to use Adobe After Effects. 2) Is because I thought that silence from the "Sue" character to imply tha the is still fustrated on the fact that he still think tha tnaming him Sue was wrong everytime he questions it in his head. So not syncing to the vocals I thought wa smore stronger that doing the other way and leave it how it all is to look more real and less contrived. Sorry but thats my opinion.
There so that is the stuff I pointed out so no one could continously put it through to me, I already know.
If you are looking for this AMV to have special effects to the hilt, and picture perfect image quality then save yourself a trip. In my opinion the picture is VERY GOOD but when I mean picture perfect image quality I mean the quality of picture when you watch a ErMaC AMV or Absolute Destiny AMV. Bottomline i did the best I could with this AMV and its an old fashion done AMV where there are special transitions except for showing time change and remember it is a parody/comedy not suppose to be in any way tied in to the real storyline while with a few side jokes I had with my friends i could make a story out of it from what is done. Good for a chuckle probably not a gut buster (meaning hilarious), a sit down enjoy and not take seriously type of anime. Thats it.
