• Comments: Whoa. Second video done - I'm at a bit of a loss for words actually. When we saw Donnie Darko we fell in love not only with the movie, which is utterly fantastic, but of course with its anthem, the dark, somber cover of Tears for Fears "Mad World" by Gary Jules. It has been used a few times before, to excellent effect by Nightowl in his Mad World video, as well as Trilaan's Worlds Gone Mad video. If you haven't seen these, please, do so. They are fantastic pieces, and worthy of your attention. I hope ours is worthy to stand alongside them.
  
  It seemed to us that something like Boogiepop Phantom was an excellent fit to Mad World - both dark, with little to no glimmer of light to shine through. Both chilling, evocative, and haunting. And if there was any character that represented both song and Boogiepop in our minds, it was the Butterfly Girl. We sort of wanted this to filter through her, and to filter through those who seemed to see the world differently in Boogiepop.
  
  Now, I could be all artistic here and say that there's a narrative, but it's told a la Boogiepop, so you have to piece it together, and if you don't get my art, blah, blah, blah. But I'm not gonna. I think there's elements of a narrative there, but if you don't get it, don't worry. Neither do I. As a friend of ours said, "It's about the boogity, not the gore." It's about a mood, an evocation, and anything else you take away is yours, a gift, freely given.
