Comments:
The AMV uses clips from 45 different anime.
I didn't start out to see how many I could jam into a song, honest :)
This is my 4th AMV.
I wanted something I could play every day and look at to remind me about various anime that I have watched.
It started when I heard the song "Meant to Live".
I thought the lyrics applied to a lot of anime in a lot of situations.
Some anime have a "we are meant to live" theme - eg Trigun where everyone has a right to live
In Ghost in the Shell the major can be said to live "somewhere deep inside"
In Heat Guy J some of the characters have lost themselves.
More literally, Guu has a lot of stuff deep inside :)
In Wolf's Rain they are lost in more ways than one, while struggling to show that they were meant to live. You could also say they are hiding themselves deep inside when they walk among others.
Ranma has lost himself in the curse of the pool etc etc
The song, "Meant to Live" by Switchfoot, can mean many things on a more general level.
Maybe anime is meant to live. Maybe anime shows us that WE should live.
Maybe we all have anime somewhere deep inside us. Maybe anime reflects those feelings deep in us.
Maybe anime shows us something more than this world has to offer. Maybe it reminds us that there is more than the world we see.
You get the idea. It has something for everyone.
As you watch the various clips, you should be able to figure out why that clip is in the AMV and how it can relate to the song.
If you want to discuss the deep inner meanings further, you can email me.
And if you don't care about deep, inner means, just enjoy it :)
There is some violence in the AMV but not excessively so. I dont think any scene lasts long enough to qualify as a "Spoiler". Please let me know if you disagree.
Thanks for everyone who gave me advice on processing the images. Thanks to Phade for a great site (specially the free AMV hosting} and to everyone who put up a FAQ on developing AMVs.
Picking over the anime, getting the right scenes, tweaking this bit then that bit were all very time consuming, but even if no one else likes it, I really enjoy the end product.
Encoded as XviD (DX50) at about 1000kbs using Niks latest build, but no B frames or Lumamasking etc
Frame rate 24fps
Audio MPEG layer 3 at 192kbs
resolution 320x240
Looks OK if zoomed to full screen
The save file did become corrupt about half way through the making of the AMV, so I started saving a back up too. If you don't save back ups yet, try it. It may save you grief.
On a side note, I did not realize that Switchfoot is considered a "Christian" band. I just enjoy their music. It does not mean I am a Christian or promoting Christianity. And no this does not imply I have anything against Christianity either. It's just an AMV.
Hope you enjoy the AMV. Drop a review and a comment.
Thx.
