This video appeared at Anime North 2000 as well as Miyu the Shinma Slayer, but Kyoudaigenka (translation: battle between brothers) was not a competition entry. It was something I just brought with me on VHS and had it during a 'making music videos' panel thing (it wasn't a panel, but I can't think of another word for it). Kyoudaigenka is a combat vid (half of it human, half of it mecha), but also an experiment in finding a long clip that was essentially made for the music (i.e. it is already in sync). Only 2 episodes out of the 49 Tekkaman Blade eps were used to make this video (eps 13 and 41). I sorta wanted to keep the eps used minimal, see how I work under limitations. There were two one-and-a-half-minute segments that went unedited in this video (both from ep 41). Although this is a combat vid, I was taking continuity into consideration (I slipped once, slightly though).
It went pretty good, except the first half had a real problem with lip flap (and it's a lyricless piece of music). The timing worked fairly well, particularly after the Tekk-Set had been done on both Blade and Evil (it couldn't have gone much better, I'm quite amazed that the vid's last 90 secs are unedited). My favorite part about this video is the last 20 seconds. The ending couldn't have gone better.
I can't remember exactly how I found these two mixing in sync as they do. I was playing Scooter on the CD player while Tekkaman Blade was playing on the TV, and I just saw it sync... I forget if I was trying to find anything or not. So long ago ^^'''. But I seem to remember some fluke element being involved.
As with Miyu the Shinma Slayer, this video was also made possible by the University of Toronto Computer Lab crew that allowed me to use equipment there. Thanx guys! ^_^
