*SPOILERS for Perfect Blue*
This is one of my more serious videos with what I consider to be a solid concept. The video focusses on all the aspects of the movie - the split personality, the degredation of herself through the path of her new career, and more primarily the stalker.
Although the lyrics only tend to focus on the stalker and his obsession for her, outlining the need for the old 'popstar' idol, Mima, back ("I'll never find someone quite like you, again"). Not only this but the song also sways towards the concept of Mima's alter ego manipulating the stalker through her sense of false comfort for the man ("God knows I'm not alone"). His false pretenses lead him to the ultimate attempt of killing off the 'movie star' Mima and hence, the climax of the video.
Parallel to this concept was that of the split personality. I included this into the video as it outlines both the relatin to how the 'popstar' Mima creates the false comfort in the stalker, as well as the 'movie star' Mima's aggression to all those who have degraded her and in turn the murder of them. This concept also intertwines into the climax - a montage of scenes that show the integration of all the concepts and how, in the end, all shape the meaning for the story.
If it wasn't for such a great story line to work with, the video would be nothing. This is one I still enjoy watching for the sake of it's concept.
This video was done around mid-2002 (same time as 'Toxicity'), so it has around 4 years experience behind it. Enjoy, and please leave any comments you have.
