There's not much I can say about this video. I wanted to do a straight up action video and do it as quickly as I could possibly manage. I felt that if I spent too much time working on it, I would over analyze it and end up ruining whatever kinetic momentum I might have built up.
To that end, this video took about two and a half days to finish the first draft. Then another day or two working out a few kinks.
My main goal was to try editing the footage directly from the DVD source and see what the results were. Since I hadn't seen any Blue Submarine videos, I decided to use that.
I picked this particular Van Halen song because parts of it actually sounded very underwater-esque. Almost as if bits of it were recorded underwater or at least with a water theme in mind. The lyrics also seemed to match with what I think the basic idea that the series was trying to get across. Everyone is human and this is what humans do. You can't curse another person for what they do, but you can try to be a better person and hope that other people follow your example.
Of course that could all be a crock, but what the hell. It sounded good anyway.
