I've had this idea for years; once again, the song's lyrics were just too perfect to pass this up. Over time though, the new animated series came out. I figured over the years that I'd wait until it was completed, then use the footage from that. However, after watching the first set, I was disappointed at the lack of heart and soul. Sure, the line-art was cleaner, but it just felt shallow compared to the original OVA and movie. And so, I went back to the original sources I'd had in mind, and formed them into the same ideas I've had all these years.
As such, some of the edits are kind of old-school; some long scenes, as opposed to an edit on every phrase or major beat. But I did my best to use action sync in such parts, or depend on visual energy to provide for the "hits". I hope that, combined with the timed edits, will make this engaging enough for modern audiences.
It feels great to have this video finally done, after having the ideas for it rattling around in my head for so long. I had hesitated before because the "Ah! My Goddess!" OVA was so overused in the AMV world... but I guess that now, after years of everyone using the new series footage instead, everything old is new again. ;D
