After watching Wings of the Honneamise I was so certain I wanted to make an AMV that it has lived on my computer for almost six months, despite being a 4.37GB file. During that time I played around with using several very different audio sources until finally settling on this one. Once actual production began I moved incredibly quickly; this video took roughly 30 hours to make but I did it over the course of the last four days.
Contrary to how I usually make AMVs, I actually sat down and rewatched the whole movie, start to finish, without subs or audio. I made 116 clips, of which roughly 90 appear in this AMV. I had my premise clearly in mind from the start and I know the song very well so for the most part everything fell into place... at least at first. Near the end I had some really aggravating technical issues, a number of which are actually due to the source material itself.
This AMV was specifically made with Kumoricon's "Retro" category in mind, although I find it pretty crazy to think that both the audio and the video were made prior to 1990. I had a lot of fun playing with the perception of time and reinterpreting the character's relationship into a wistful theoretical romance. If you play close attention, I did some fun subtle little things, especially in the scenes that the girl were in.
