I have been wanting to make this Kingdom Hearts AMV for a year and a half. I had the idea and song down already, and was really itching to make this video. Last year, before AX, I was deciding if I should make the Yami No Matsuei AMV first or the KH one. I finally settled for YnM since it involved using special effects, which would force me to really understand Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 (I had upgraded from Elements).
Now, I finally got to make the KH AMV I've been wanting to do.
I knew that the tone and lyrics of the song "See Who I Am" fit Kingdom Hearts, because the images flowed so naturally in my head whenever I listened to it—the blending of reality and dreams, which fit the Kingdom Hearts storyline.
It took me about 2 months to create this video. I like to create action videos, but I wanted to also make a video that is considered beautiful. Kingdom Hearts has a lot of adrenaline pumping and beautiful/dreamlike scenes, and I like how the two seem to somehow contrast with each other.
The video is about the blurring of reality and dreams, and how the past, present, and future all clash together. In the AMV, Sora has a weird dream, and the dream blends in with reality—he sees his friends, Kairi and Riku, but he also sees the dark robed figure and the unknown warriors in a keyblade battle. Various scenes show Sora falling to represent his going in and out of reality—is this a dream, or is this all real? The past, present, and future all clash together as you see the younger and older Kairi/Riku/Sora, the dark robed figures, and the 3 armored warriors—are they all related to one another?
We see Sora confronting Riku, desperately searching for Kairi, running into Namine, facing his other self--We see the 3 keyblades representing Sora and his friends, and Sora and the warriors standing at a crossroads--everything blends in with the falling and water themes that run throughout the story.
I want to thank surfinpika for answering my questions on using game footage from KH (it was my first time editing game footage). She has been so helpful!!!
Enjoy the video, and if you haven't already, play Kingdom Hearts! It's an awesome game!
IMPORTANT NOTE: You need the H264 codec to play the video!
