The Video
This AMV is based on the feelings and thoughts of longing and loneliness that Belldandy and Keiichi go through when they are unexpectedly separated by circumstances beyond their control. The sudden loss of each other’s presence brings out the deepest feelings of their love for one another and makes it apparent that their only wish is to be able to be with each other forever.
The initial impression is that this video and the emotions being felt are that of only Keiichi’s and this is from his point of view. But the scenes and lyrics that I used in this video are wide-ranging enough that the emotions brought out, can come from and be applied at the same time to both Belldandy and Keiichi.
I emphasized in this video both Belldandy and Keiichi remembering and re-experiencing their happiest and memorable moments together. Wishing only to be with each other again and feel that special feeling that comes only when they are together. The base time setting of this video is when they have already been separated and having to bear the time away from each other. As this time passes, both of them flash back to a situation and feeling, which is counter to what they are presently experiencing.
The Music
I chose to use this song because it is the perfect example of a couple in love being kept away from each against their will and how much it weighs on their hearts and minds to be apart. The song also implies hope and resolves to be together again, which is what keeps Belldandy and Keiichi strong when enduring this difficulty.
Now even though the themes in this video are actually what is experienced in the series, I directed some of the scenes of the video in a way that when in combination with the lyrics of the song, may lead to a different interpreted versions of the real events taken in the series. This was not done to deceive the viewer of the storyline, but merely to show the extent of emotion being felt by one or both. And that is another thing that drew me to this song. The great extent of passion, yearning and loneliness are within the lyrics.
The Project
I honestly cannot say how many hours it took me to create this AMV. After I decided on the series and the theme I wanted to work on, it took me about 24 hours to make up the initial storyboard. Once I had a first draft of the video with the music, I must have spent about an average of one to two hours a night editing the footage I chose to use as well as adding more along. In all, the bulk of this project took me about three months to complete.
I truly had a wonderful time creating this video. Even though it is my first attempt at creating an AMV, I feel that I did fairly good job showing the deep emotions of Bell and Kei during this time in their lives. It allowed me to put on screen the way I see the power of love. A feeling that completely transcends a person’s ability to reason and see the world. A feeling that you get only when you find that special someone, no matter if they are a goddess, or a mortal.
