Well, this was one of my ideas I came up with while editing another, more complex video to keep my interest up, and that I did pretty much enjoy watching Minority Report and Akira.

I remember watching a few trailer videos then from some creators that used TV spots and thought to myself, well that looks really easy. So I did. And here is my second ‘trailer’ video listed on the org.

Making a 'normal' trailer vid seemed too uninteresting for me, most people use a completely unedited audio from a particular spot, teaser or trailer, but I decided to originally EDIT my own audio track from my trailer audio sources. What I ended up with was an originally composed narrative, just slightly shorter than a minute (which I admit, I had always wanted to make a video that’s less than a minute long, just for kicks), and using seemingly unlikely footage from Akira to fit to the fictional movie called ‘Akira Report’. It's also a throwback to my earlier videos which features dialog and sound effects. ^_^

Also this video was a challenge of seeing how much content or story one could tell in less than a minute and I certainly had fun doing it.

The video even manages to incorporate some effect shots, some even during the credits and of course my fussy requirement that my trailers be originally titled within the VIDEO itself to lend a much better consistency and believability, in this case ‘Akira Report’ appears to show case this ‘movie’ within the video.

So this is a trailer for ‘Akira report’, an original movie by SDC, not Minority Report. I much prefer the hybrid crossover concept. ^_^

As to why Tetsuo shows up only like a cameo shot, let’s just say I’m saving him for another video. :P

Just a small mention of lip synch, this is the first vid to employ an improved lip synch technique, thanks to some ideas from DrDude, which were combined with some of my own.

It’s also a small file (quick download) and I hope you enjoy it, and feel free to drop your thoughts about it!

UPDATE : The most frequent question I get about this video is 'Why is it so short? I want more!'
The reason is because I deliberately set the length to less than one minute - similar to mid-nineties trailers, if you remember. Also making the video shorter made it much more frantic and exciting, which was what I wanted. I wanted to take a break from the normal slow-paced first half set-up common to most trailers, and almost make it feel more like a special extended version tv spot. Do try to judge the video independent of it's length. =P

Apparently after watching this, You Choose Sam, The Rest was inspired by the idea of editing audio sources to form 'original' trailers, and now he employs this method in his current videos. Thanks for enjoying the vid and the idea Dave. ^_^

The video is now encoded in 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio. with overall larger resolution size (512 x 288). (Thanks to some quick heads-up by a viewer) So if you were one of the people who managed to get the mpg version of this video, you are highly recommended to get this much improved version!
