  • Comments: The "Oh My Goddess!" five-part ova was my absolute favorite anime, outside of what I've seen on TV. My all-time favorite manga, and my first, was the Oh My Goddess! graphic novels published by Dark Horse Comics. What drew me to it was the mythology used to create the story. I was and still am very big on ancient mythologies. A Norse goddess living with a Japanese college student in present-day society? I knew it was going to be a good story. I'm a bit of a sucker for romances and I love comedies. There are just so many things that make this one of the greatest manga/anime titles of all time! Its a classic. Anyway...

I've been wanting to do an Oh My Goddess! amv for a long time now, but I also wanted to do one for "Ah! My Goddess The Movie", too. So I decided to them both together. My idea was to do something that used the ova scenes as memories, or references to Bell and Kei's past while scenes from the movie were used as the main seqeunces of the amv. Damn Yankees was a one-album band that incorporated none other than Ted Nuggent and a few other solo artists that wanted to make a band. They produced one self-titled album, and a few other singles. "High Enough" and "Coming of Age" were two of their most popular hits. I chose High Enough because it reflects, at least in the video, how Belldandy is a goddess. It also conveys the feelings of the story I wanted to portray through the amv. In the movie Bell and Kei's relationship, their future together, is threatened when she loses her memories and the possibility that they may be separated forever. In the ova, even though she granted his wish to stay with Keiichi forever, The Almighty tells her she has come back to Heaven. Even in the beginning of the story their future together looked bleak. But in the end, especially in the movie, everything turns out alright. Though one's an immortal deity and the other is a mortal human, their love and their faith in one another triumphs and overcomes all obstacles.

I hope everyone enjoys my very first, and hopefully not my only, OMG!/Ah! My Goddess anime music video! Please leave an Op or even a QC, and don't forget to visit my site.
