This is the third AMV I ever made, way back in 2001. I did it as a brute force exercise to practice the timing of clips. Nowadays, it makes me cringe to watch it, although not as much as some of my other works. On the other hand, some people seem to be taken by it. C'est l'clip.

The music is classic trance from a great, if somewhat dated, CD. I recall this song getting a fair amount of airplay back in 2001. There are several remixes, but this is the original edit.

The images are standard Bebop. A lot (a lot!) of stills, including some scans from a set of postcards that I have. No effects except for a few zooms and transitions. The clip with the reflecting water comes from a content set - I think it's the one that is included with Premiere. It was a 320px QT file which is why it looks so pixelated. I got the opening starfield from some movie, can't remember which.

I entered "Ayla Part II" in my first contest, Sakura-Con 2001. Somehow, for reasons that I still don't understand, it won a judge's award. Perhaps they thought all that spot-on timing needed a lot of work and dedication. Which it did, but not as much as it might appear. If I had been using Adobe Premiere instead of VideoFactory, then it would have been much more tedious.
