This video is what I believe to be a world first - the world's first animé music video ever done to a Split Enz song.
For the uninitiated, Split Enz was a rock group formed in New Zealand in the early 1970's as a 'theatre rock' act. They were particularly notable for their eccentric dress sense and on-stage antics.
The song, "Six Months in a Leaky Boat", was inspired by Captain Cook's voyages to what would later become New Zealand. Upon its original release in 1982, it aroused controversy for allegedly being interpreted as a criticism of British involvement in the Falklands War.
For more info about the group, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Split_Enz
This AMV presented certain challenges that I didn't encounter with the previous one. The most obvious challenge was removing the subtitles which were hardcoded into the video, which I addressed by splicing non-subbed frames of video to the subbed frames, or otherwise panning the frames.
UPDATE (29 Apr 2006): This video has been judged 2nd Place in the 2006 Armageddon Pulp Expo AMV Competition.
