My third video. This is my tribute to the background art of Elfen Lied, which is probably my favorite series ever. The few bits that are not mostly background art are either some of the more "magical" scenes of the series, or were appropriate by some convolution of my twisted sense of humor. Sine I used very few shots involving the characters, I don't think I'm spoiling. If you disagree, please let me know (and why) and I'll refine my understanding of the concept.
All lip synch in this video is due to serendipity, I made no significant effort to line it up. I must say, though, that the pace of Elfen Lied is very well suited to the tempo of Barenaked Ladies' "Old Apartment". Even the blood dripping from Nana's leg is in time to the music, with no tweaking on my part except to line it up to the beat.
I've spent most of the last week refining this video, which is significantly longer than I spent on Sins of the Past. For one thing, I realized that I was largely ignoring the driving beat of the song, which is quite prominent in Old Apartment. Secondly, after READFAGing, I attempted a more complex action synch pattern, utilizing more elements of the melody. Lastly, I was DUMB and saved over an intermediate project file before I realized I didn't have a seperate backup of 75 seconds worth of edits... *sigh* -_-' I believe it worked out for the best, though, because the incident forced me to rework several sections significantly more than I had at first planned, with a better focus on what I wanted to achieve. My kharma is a peculiar and stubborn beast.
I also slept between editting sessions, which probably helped a lot...
Techy bits:
I skipped converting my DVD rips to DivX for this video, not sure if doing so made a difference one way or the other. Harvested clips using VirtualDub as usual, but I'm still stuck with Windows Movie Maker. Apparently, WMM has a mental breakdown anytime you ask it to compile more than 100 or so clips, so I used the partial-compile trick again. Maybe someday if I get REALLY bored, I'll sit and figure out exactly what the program's threshold is.
Love, blood, and madness,
Doc
